"Sugar Roux Voodoo" is available in Print!

I love the cover of Sugar Roux Voodoo. It's one of my favorites. Syneca designed it and did a beautiful job of capturing the spooky feel of a cursed Louisiana plantation in 1834. Of course I think the late Angelo Riguero made a perfect Valcour Curry. I am sincerely honored to have him on the cover.

This is the first book of four stand alone stories that are all tied together with magic and shape shifters and lots of romance in bayou country. The next three are coming soon. If you missed "Sugar Roux Voodoo" in ebook form or just prefer a paperback book--this is your chance.

Night Owl Reviews gave "Sugar Roux Voodoo 5 stars Top Pick Recommended read!

Blurb:

New Orleans, 1834. Lark La Beau is a green-eyed beauty and respected beneficent voodoo priestess with the sometimes uncooperative gift of clairvoyance. Captain Valcour Curry is a debonair, larger-than-life buccaneer with ambition to burn and a taste for fine things. Following a whirlwind romance with Lark, he disappears at sea, leaving Lark with a riverboat and a child to rear—alone.

A guilty act of piracy causes Valcour to fall victim to a shapeshifting magician who practices the dark art of soul-swapping. For five years Valcour has been enslaved as an emotionless zombie with no memory of his loved ones or past. From dusk to dawn he is cursed to toil in the cane fields while the evil magician uses his soul to lure women  and have his brutal way with them.

Lark will risk hell and journey to the oppressive Broken Oak Plantation to break the curse. It’s a terrifying place. Her only tools to call Valcour’s lost soul back to life are voodoo and the sensual power of love.

Robbed of $3 billion in US? Pirates of books are criminals!

In the United States, currently the total STOLEN from the economy by pirates of books reaches an astonishing $3 billion.  (See: http://venturebeat.com/2010/03/02/book-piracy-costs-u-s-publishers-3b-says-study/ )
Yes, B for billion.
But in my own pocket, or I should say out of it, I see an OUCH factor that amounts to THOUSANDS of dollars.
THOUSANDS.
I am not alone.
So many of my friends/colleagues have the same problem.  Whenever one person downloads one novel, they steal approximately $1.50+ from me. If they then email that book to someone else, the amount multiplies.
Now, I can say that I write for a living. My colleagues do too.
Recently, I saw that one book of my novels on one pirate site had been downloaded 496 times. (And I have sent take down notices to this site before, so they have robbed me multiple times!) So for that one book, I have been robbed of $744.00.
That is not chicken feed.
What could I do with that money?
Pay my grocery bill. Help pay my mortgage. Save it in my bank account for my old age.
What did the thief do with the $3.99 he/she deprived me of?
Buy a bag of chips?
Buy a new mascara in the dime store?
Reading a novel is one of the most inexpensive and long-lasting entertainments. For a very small sum, a reader gets to enjoy many hours of pleasure in a quiet, serene way. Is that not worth something more than being ripped off?????
This craziness has got to stop and the only way to do it is to write about it CONSTANTLY. To download an author's book for free is a crime. It is larceny. Theft.
I am out to catch thieves. EVERY DAY.

It's almost Daylight Savings Time again...

It's Saturday...and in just a few hours, Daylight Savings Time will leap forward into our lives to wreak havoc once again...but I am ready!

I have already set all my clocks ahead...made certain that my watch is set ahead...and have made it impossible for me to forget like I did last year at this time.  Whew!

So in a few short hours, I will lose another hour of sleep.  I mean, how can I manage on only ten or eleven hours?  It's terrible to get old.  Twelve hours of sleep seems to be about my style lately.  I am told that very young and very ancient people require a LOT of sleep.  So I am either in my second childhood, or I am getting old.  Way old.

How many hours of sleep you YOU need in a day?  Can you get by on four or five? Or do you need a good, round eight?

Hugs!

Cover Reveal "Fairy In The Flesh"

This is my gorgeous new book cover from Ellora's Cave's very talented cover artist Syneca. She did a terrific job of including all the elements on my wish list.

I'm hoping to start edits on "Fairy In The Flesh" later this week and waiting on word about a paranormal romance I submitted to Ellora's Cave two weeks ago. The new book is a werewolf tale with historical elements and I'm really proud if it. I have my fingers crossed for good luck.

I'm also busy writing the follow up to the book I just submitted while all the characters are fresh in my mind. The new book is going well and practically writing itself. Thank goodness for that.

It's back to work for me. I hope every one has a great week!

Re Release of Sliding Home

Sliding Home was first published by the now defunct Aspen Mountain. It has a new sexy cover, but the hot sexy men are still the same.

Blurb:

Alex loves baseball and when the majors come knocking on his door he’s thrilled. The only thing missing from his life is a partner to share it with. Alex longs to be with his best friend, Rick. He’s loved Rick since he realized he was gay.
An evening of celebration turns to a night of pleasure between Rick and Alex. The next day Rick is confused with his feelings toward Alex.
Will Rick give in to his desires or will he let Alex walk out of his life forever?

Excerpt:
He thought he’d seen something earlier. A spark in Rick’s gray eyes. He couldn’t have imagined it, could he? Again, when he’d rubbed up against him while they were playing pool, he saw the look.
It was desire.
Then Rick had stormed off to the bar for another drink. Was he afraid of hanging around and letting Alex see his raging hard-on?
Too late.
Alex had noticed it and got hard instantaneously. He was so hard he’d thought about going into the bathroom and rubbing himself until he felt relieved. Somehow, he knew relief wouldn’t come from masturbation so he decided against it.
Besides how would he explain his long absence?
No. Alex had suffered through.
When he asked if he could crash at his friend’s house he’d had an ulterior motive. He wanted to see if things would be different when they were alone. He wanted to know if Rick would mention how his body reacted to Alex’s.
He didn’t. In fact, he’d never mentioned it once. Even when they entered Rick’s apartment, he never said a word. He retrieved the blanket and pillow for him, before heading to his room.
One thing was certain; Rick couldn’t get out of the living room quick enough.
It was like he was afraid of what would happen if he stayed too long. Could he be wrestling with the same feelings Alex was? He wasn’t sure, but he didn’t want to act on it just yet. If his friend did have feelings for him, he wanted to address it before he had to leave.
Knowing Rick was waiting for him would make his transition much easier.
Alex wondered if he should go into Rick’s room and see if he was still awake. If he was, they could talk about what had happened. Worry settled into the pit of his stomach. What if Rick did feel something, but refused to act on it? What if he rejected Alex?
Alex couldn’t handle being rejected by his best friend. He cared for him too much. He didn’t want to ruin the friendship they had by stepping over any lines. No, it was best for him to stay put on the couch. If Rick wanted him, he would have to be the one to make the first move. That way, Alex wouldn’t be treading into uncertain waters.
Disappointed, but satisfied with his decision, Alex closed his eyes and tried to concentrate on anything other than his aching balls.
An hour later he was still struggling with the tightness in his crotch. He thought about relieving himself numerous times but was afraid of Rick walking in on him or worse—overhearing his moans.
Unable to fight the urge, Alex jumped off the couch and headed toward Rick’s bedroom.
“Fuck it.” He had nothing to lose at this point— except his friendship with Rick

Somebody get out the cattle prod...

Once again, I have nothing to report...nada...zilch...zero.

I have given up on writing anything at all, since my thoughts are totally scrambled, and my attention is everywhere but where it needs to be.  I have decided that I will not be doing any conventions this year.  Not even if they drag me kicking and screaming to the hotel. I need a total mind reajdustment.

Wish that was as simple as a chiropractic readjustment, but it isn't.  I am sorting out things in my life that are a bit mind-blowing, and so far, things are simply not settling into the square holes.  Could be that those damn round pegs weren't meant to fit in there, so I will have to look for another shape.

Maybe by next Saturday I will have better news.  Sigh.
