Naked Running Cowboy is on the Loose!

It’s finally here! I dreamed of this day for so long. For ages Tessie teased me with the description of a book cover of a naked running cowboy. We enjoyed a good laugh but neither of us could figure out how or why this book cover existed. Who needed a naked running cowboy on demand?

Then genius struck. Tessie devised a damn clever reason to claim the book cover. She wrote Naked Running Cowboy in record, which in my mind is further proof of divine inspiration and voila Naked Running Cowboy was born.

Now we can all enjoy this sweet, sexy story about a very handsome neighbor who likes to garden without his shirt and inadvertently plants a few steamy fantasies in his female neighbor’s mind.

I loved this Gem. It’s a quick but satisfying read that will make you happy. I have to admit the naked running cowboy on the cover is hot! It’s working for me…

I recommend everyone chase down a Naked Running Cowboy! You’ll be glad you did.

Happy Release Day Tessie! Thank you for another great Gem.

Too Little Time

I love long weekends from work. I hate long weekends from work. :o)
While I always enjoy an extra day with the family, the return to work is always a busy one. Not only in my day job but my writing life too. I didn’t get much writing in this weekend – maybe 500 words. Today I’ll be playing catch-up.
I did relax by the pool, had a cookout with family and read two books. Jayne Rylon’s Kate’s Crew and Marie Rose Dufour’s Saddle Up. Both very good. I used to be an OCD reader. You’d never see me without a book. Now trying to squeeze in reading time is difficult. I realize that I need to read to recharge my brain. I get stale in my writing if I’m not reading. So, now I’m going to make that part of my daily routine. Hahahahaha.
The good thing is the television shows are done for the summer – except Game of Thrones which ends this coming Sunday. Bummer. I’m sure they’ll make us wait another 9 months to find out what happens.
With nothing to watch, but baseball…and I must say I’m not watching it like the obsessive fan I normally am, I’ll do more reading. It’s funny how addictions change.
Wish I had more to add to the blog this week, but as you can see there’s just too much to do.

Happy Tuesday

Saturday, May 26, 2012 I come...

I love my condo in Snowbird...

Whether it is frosty and misty, or sunny and warm...

The view from my double-decker suite is breathtaking, and it has helped me ground myself every year for the past decade and a half.  Waaay back when time shares were all the newest rage, and people were scrambling to buy "weeks" at this resort or that, a wonderful man in Utah decided to do something a bit different. He sold time shares in a simple ski lodge that was sturdy and pleasant, but instead of trying to oversell, he limited the number and quality of the shares, and Iron Blosam Lodge was born.

And when that wonderful old man passed on, instead of selling the time share's condo buildings to Snowbird's huge resort, he willed each Iron Blosam owner a full part ownership in perpetuity, and set up a well-oiled management scheme that has lasted for over 40 years...and oddly enough, a great many of the original owners and their descendants still own the shares. Unwilling to let such a treasure go the way of most other time shares, the owners took great interest in their property.

Having a wonderful, rejuvenating place to go for a week every year helps me cope with the stress and helps me regain perspective.  So even though I will be carrying my trusty lap-top up the canyon to the 8,000 ft level, I will not be doing much work. I will enjoy feeding the bluejays, ground squirrels, chipmunks, and the occasional raccoon from a special feeder I take with me.  I will enjoy walking on the sometimes snowy...sometimes muddy paths around the resort.  I will enjoy stepping out onto my balcony that overlooks the fabulous sparkling adult swimming pool, and I will breathe deep of the crisp morning mountain air. And I will think of all of my friends slaving away in cubicles and over computer keyboards...and I will laugh maniacally and then I will go inside and read the hoard of e-books that I will be taking up with me, while I nibble on forbidden sweets.

Oh...and if any of you are in Utah next week, and want to visit me up there, just e-mail...

My Babies Are Coming!!!

This afternoon, our son, daughter-in-law and grand daughters, Ava (3 1/2) and Michaela (4 months) are arriving for a ten day visit!! They live in southern Texas and we live in Michigan. The last time we were together in person was two years ago. Ava was barely tweedling around, and Michaela, well, was  the 'we might decide to reproduce one more time' comment from our adult kids during a heated game of Scrabble!!

I am at a loss for words (very nice being an author) to describe my excitement for their arrival.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Louisa Masters Heats Up "Inter-Office Relations"

I want to introduce a new friend to Seven Sexy Scribes Louisa Masters! Louisa writes spicy and hot erotic-romance and I know you all love that, so I’m going to allow Louisa to speak for herself…

My Sex Life—Fabulous or Fantasy?

My first erotic romance was released in December 2011, and numbers two and three are due out this summer. So I haven't been in the market for that long. Yet already, I have been subjected innumerable times to "the question".

"How do you come up with your ideas?" Wink, wink. "Your sex life must be amazing."

Seriously? My favourite answer—preferably right after they've taken a sip from their drink—is "Actually, I'm a virgin."

It seems ridiculous for people to assume I have no imagination simply because I write erotic romance. Do people ask Stephen King if his life is a nightmare of strange and terrifying occurrences?

Consider this: Inter-Office Relations, currently available from The Wild Rose Press, kicks off with Jeannie propositioning her office crush, Tim. They get it on in the conference room, and several other interesting places. Did I ever do that? No. Did I want to? Definitely. Tim is loosely based on a guy I had a crush on when I worked in the corporate world.

One Night in a Bar, due June 25th from Total-E-Bound, is about Karen, who goes to a bar she normally wouldn't frequent after finding her boyfriend in bed with two other men. She dances with a sexy stranger and bangs him in the alley behind the bar. Did I ever do that? No. Did I want to? Only in my dreams. In reality, the idea scares the crap out of me J

Diving In Deep, part of The Wild Rose Press's Boys of Summer series and due out—you guessed it—later this summer, is a m/m/m story about Cameron, who takes time off from his life to reinvent himself and meets Jake and Troy, the sexy duo running a reef diving company. There's no way in hell this one could be based on my sex life—I don't have the requisite body parts.

Writing erotic romance means that I'm open to more than just the missionary position (although, if done right, missionary can be a real good time). It means I'm not afraid to go into adult toy stores, and that I'll admit to owning a vibrator—several, actually. It does not mean that I spend my days in a sex swing experimenting with toys while practicing positions from the Kama Sutra. Although, that does sound fun...

Erotic writers of the world, what other misconceptions have you been subjected to?
Visit my site for blurbs and excerpts

Thank you Louisa for being our guest. I love your beautiful book covers. Next time you visit please post a picture of Tim! I think we’d all enjoy seeing him.

Stealing Ideas

I’ve been doing a lot of non-fiction writing, along with working on my current wip. I’m also reading how-to books trying to strengthen my skills. I recently read how often writers claim their ideas are stolen. Now I’ve read this many times in my career but it always fascinates me. Who are we to say someone stole our ideas? As writers we’re always looking for new ideas. It’s very possible to come up with the same idea as another writer. The difference will always be the voice – in fiction or non-fiction.

Back about 15 years ago (likely longer) I loved Danielle Steele books. I wanted to write like her. I did write a book with the same type of tone, setting, etc. that book stills sits in a drawer somewhere and will likely never see the light of day. So much has changed since I wrote that book. For one cell phones came in to play. Anyway, I came up with a great idea for another book. I started writing it. Six months later Danielle published a book…it was THE idea. I don’t want to say MY idea because frankly she wrote the book and subbed it long before I thought of it. But at the time I did wish I’d written it before her and subbed it. Though, the likelihood of me being published back then was slim to none. I had no clue of the publishing world. To say I was naïve was an understatement.

Some days I’d like to go back to those days of naivete. Life was simpler. I just wrote and didn’t worry if I’d sell or if readers would accept me. The only thing I did know was no one was stealing my ideas.

Drop by my blog tomorrow for a chance to win a copy of my print book Ignite the Flames. This book has three of my stories – Splashing Good Time, Ignited and Research Required.

Jed could hear Harry and Will stomping up the covered back porch, their boots dropping on the wooden floorboards as they removed them so as not to track mud and water inside.      Harry opened the kitchen door and came in first, his straight black hair bound back at the nape in a string of Comanche rawhide. Will, broader, built like a heavyweight wrestler, was right behind.
“Hey,” Harry greeted Jed, his pale blue eyes scanning the kitchen for Cara.    “How we doing here?”
“Good.” Jed nodded toward their new bathroom, then continued to set the table for dinner. “Getting showered and changed. Slow and easy does it.”
“Does she have any ideas of what we had planned for her?” Will asked Jed, skeptical after years of looking for a woman to bed and wed that any one female could satisfy his hunger for lusty sex.
Jed chuckled at his youngest sibling.   “Not yet. Let her learn us slowly. We researched her well.”
“Yeah. With a helper she might not thank if she ever finds out.” Will nodded.
Jed agreed. “We’ll cross that bridge if we ever come to it.”
Will smacked his lips. “She is even sweeter up close and personal. I’d hate to blow this to hell now that she’s here. Good thinking to keep her box and hope she’d deliver ours.”
“She’s intrigued, for sure,” Harry confirmed. “But shy.”
“It’s not like we have no experience courting women,” Will pointed out.
Harry stared at him deadpan. “Ya think? Seems in the last few years all we found were the ones who’d slept around so much, they’d catch fire if they didn’t sweat.”
Will took a glass from a cabinet and filled it with water. “Remember the one in Dallas who turned out to be a professional roller derby gal?” He took a long drink as the other two groaned. “Hell in high heels. Mean as a bobcat.”
“Her IQ equaled her bra size,” Harry confirmed. “My personal fave was the conniving redhead in Waco who hustled us all the time to shoot pool before she let us take her to the private room and play with her.   Lost two months’ wages to her.”
Will choked on laughter. “Look at it this way. She inspired you to improve your game.”
“Not judging my women by their hair color any longer, am I? No. ’Nuf said.”
Will scowled. “I want a woman who’s real. No three-dollar wigs or false teeth.”
Harry grimaced. “None were that bad.”
   “No, but you get me.”
Jed crossed his arms. “So yeah, we went hunting in the wrong places and came home sorry. We wised up. Looked in our own backyard. Checked first for character.”
“We’ve still got work to do. Cara’s been abused,” Will said with disgust. “Her asshole husband used his mouth on her and that’s a heavy load to take from her.”
“Underneath, she’s right as rain,” Jed declared. “Needs a little gentling, that’s all.”
"So we’ll give her a hand up,” Will said.
“Hmm.” Harry widened his eyes. “Maybe more than a hand.”
“She’s got some spunk and sass to her all right,” Jed acknowledged. “And she might not be a natural submissive.”
“Fine by me,” Will retorted. “But with her interest in lingerie and the way she lights up around us, I’d say she’s up for sex with boys and toys. She’s got an eye for us. So maybe we can help her out of her funk after Mister Ball and Chain. Not knowing anything finer existed, she let her instinct lead her to get hitched to the wrong kind of fencepost.”
Harry frowned at the hallway toward the bath. “Hope to god we can change that.”
Jed smiled. “If you have patience with her, Harry, and Will, if you can show her some of that Jolly Green Giant brawn, we’ll light her fire.”
Harry elbowed his brother. “Right. Let’s get cleaned up so we can show her what gentlemen can do for her. And you,” he tsked at Jed, “stop being housemother here. Go get yourself all bright and sparkly. I want to sit down and get to know her in the best circumstances.”
“I’ll go. But you two need to have some time with her alone. I’ve already made my impression. Laid the groundwork for us. But I told you, I’ll not make first claim on her just because I’m the oldest. Or the first to have some regular time with her.”
Will slicked back his unruly black curls and laughed for the first time in months. “If we get this right, we’ll each get a chance to show her how good we can be.”
Harry grinned. “Then we’ll go for the gold.”
Jed agreed. “Get a move on. She’s here for the duration of the storm. If it stops any time soon, we’ve lost the best chance to show her we’re human.”
“And if it lasts all night?” Harry waggled his slashing black brows in anticipation. “We might have a strong chance to entertain her for more than supper.”
“Hope, as Ma used to say, springs eternal,” Jed told him. “Go!”
ENJOY THE REST of the story, the first in my new series, KNIGHTS IN BLACK LEATHER, about the town of Bravado Texas, where the men are good and plenty...and lonely!

Doing The Happy Dance!!

Sensations, Pampering Jessica and Possessing Eleanor are now available together in PRINT!!!!

Despite this age of all things technology-oriented, so many people in my sphere of existence haven't yet embraced the e-book! They know of them, are proud that I have penned them, but still consider them somehow sub-standard.

Does this perception hurt my feelings? Absolutely! Over the last three years, I've experienced first hand the professionalism and high standards of publishers, editors and cover artists.
Outsiders will never understand the deep connection, friendship and camaraderie we e-authors share.

The release of this book most likely (wink) will NOT change or enlighten people, but hopefully some of those "I would read your stories if they were real" people will pull out their credit card!!!

Have a great weekend!

Possessing Eleanor
Eleanor Lewis is perfectly content with her comfortable, quiet, relationship free life until she finds herself on all fours at the feet of Jackson Royce. Eleanor is stunned by her instant and intense attraction to the power and confidence radiating from the devilishly handsome building contractor. He scrambles her brain and heats her body to the boiling point.

Jackson always trusts his gut instincts. The ultra sexy woman sprawled on the floor is a sexual submissive. How intriguing that the all business, sensible shoe wearing office manager has absolutely no idea? The moment he takes her into his embrace he vows to possess her mind, body and soul.

From their first sizzling encounter, through a whirlwind courtship, Eleanor discovers being possessed by a man who loves her absolutely is what she had been searching for all along.

Pampering Jessica
David has been planning Jessica’s birthday weekend for months. His wife of almost twenty five years is having issues with turning fifty and he vows to do everything in his power to remind her how incredible she is and how much he loves her.

Jessica’s birthday wish is to spend quality alone time with the man of her dreams, her husband. When David presents her with a gold gift bag full of sensual surprises, Jessica is more than eager to enjoy every one of them. What she doesn’t realize is that her husband has much more in store for her special celebration.

Vivian Walcourt is completely out of her conservative, sheltered element when she finds herself at an ultra-exclusive adult club. Her free spirited best friend may think she’s in love with one of the owners, but Vivian doesn’t believe in whirlwind courtships.

Paul Landis never imagined the woman who has haunted his dreams for years would walk into his club with his partner’s fiancé. More beautiful than ever, unattached, and worked into a heightened state of horny by the evening’s entertainment, he sweeps her away to experience the very special pleasures found behind the closed doors of Sensations.

My Eye's On Hawkeye!

My Mother’s Day was really a good one. I got a big bundle of sunflowers, and spent the day with my son and husband doing what I love to do on Sunday afternoons, we went out for grilled fish tacos and saw a movie.

I’m sure you can guess which movie we saw—The Avengers!

I loved it. The theater was packed. As you already know this movie has something for everyone and that’s why it’s doing such good box office.

I grew up drawing Marvel characters on my school book covers and any clean sheet of paper I could find. I especially loved Thor, no surprises there. I learned to love Iron Man when Robert Downey Jr. took on the role and made it his. I thought Chris Evans’ Captain America was subtle and amazing for a character that has been handled poorly in the past. Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk was wonderfully moody, smart and funny.

But I wasn’t prepared for how much I would enjoy Hawkeye.

I’ll credit Jeremy Renner’s terrific acting with making Hawkeye a fascinating character, that’s almost all sub-text. Hawkeye doesn’t burst onto the screen and start doing his superhero thing. He's just there as a strong presence and the viewer has to figure him out.

Hawkeye’s character is doubly challenged because he gets compromised and turns on his super-peers. During that time Jeremy Renner has no dialog and his expressive eyes are completely masked in “Evil-icy-blue-I’ve-been-compromised” contact lens, and he still gets subtitles across.

Hawkeye and Scarlett Johansson’s character Black Widow have history and big chemistry and I think it would be crazy for Disney/Marvel Productions to not give those two their own movie.

What do you think? Have you seen the Avengers?

Karma is a bitch...but she teaches fabulous lessons.

Never give up on yourself...
I almost did. I let things get me down, and I felt totally alone and helpless. Pretty silly of me, granted, but I started to feel sorry for myself, and to feel like I was a has-been. Problem with being a has-been is, you had to have been somebody in the first place, in order to now be a has-been. So I thought about that for awhile. Who was I? How can I possibly be a has-been when I have never been anyone special?
I asked my friends for help in sorting things out, and got a veritable landslide of encouragement and love. It took over a year, but with all the positive thoughts and all the people who told me to get off my bloomin' arse and just DO it, I have managed to make a come-back from being a has-been. Still working out that has-been thingy. :P
I recently got back my rights on three books that I had published through a different publisher. I am thankful that I found that publisher, because the books that did not quite "fit" with my primary publisher were grabbed quickly and published over there. They were very good to me, but my books did not do well there, and they were kind enough to let me have them back before the contract was up. It is refreshing and heartwarming to see kindness and ethics in business these days, when there is often so much negativity. Now those three books have a brand new home, are under contract and have another opportunity for success. Perhaps this time around they will be better-received and will do me proud.

I firmly believe that you get back exactly what you cast out into the universe...and I always try my damnedest to send good vibes out wherever possible. If you believe you will succeed, you will succeed...possibly in ways you never imagined. If you believe you will fail, you most assuredly will. Negativity breed negativity. Once I got it back into my skull that I was not a has-been...since I had never been anyone in the first place...things began to move forward again. Once I decided to believe in myself once more, the negativity vanished.

We all go through slumps...but I allowed mine to become a swamp. Nobody can pick you up and drag your sorry butt out of the swamp you create...but they can sure root for you and believe in you. So if you know anyone who desperately needs rooting for and encouragement, please don't hesitate to give it. It will be returned to you tenfold...
