Rachel at Jeep Diva’s gave Dena Garson’s “Ghostly Persuasions” 4 Stars and said, “I love reading ghost stories and I only recently discovered ghost romances. This was a really enjoyable read that kept me up into the night reading it to finish it.”

Jennifer LaRose’s “Phantom Mischief” got a whooping 5 Star Recommended Read at Night Owl Reviews!

The Book Maven “Adored” Lord Griffin’s Prize and had this to say:
I adored this paranormal romance.  The story was intriguing and the character’s were fascinating.  You immediately love Maeve and you totally fall for the hunky Lord Griffin, even if he is only an apparition at times.  He could crawl in my bed sheets anytime.  It felt that even though the modern-day events take place for only one day you can really feel the lifetime connection these two characters have.  Most of the time I don’t enjoy books that have characters that have the soul of someone else.  I usually can’t feel a connection to those characters.  But, I felt that though Maeve had the soul of her late ancestor she was still her own modern self.  I enjoyed that.  I also enjoyed the lush scenery that is so eloquently painted by Katalina Leon.  I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes a good Irish romance with a little of the paranormal thrown in.  After reading this you will want to buy the first ticket over to Ireland and find the nearest castle.
Look for more Emerald Isle Fantasies this autumn and catch up on your reading now!

What is shibari? And why do you who LUV BDSM care about the real thing????

http://www.jasminejade.com/p-10414-tie-me-down.aspx

Many misconceptions abound about BDSM and the most misunderstood is the Japanese erotic art of kinbaku, derived from the honorable samurai method of restraining an enemy, shibari.

Why do I know this?

Aside from the fact that I have my MA in Chinese and Japanese history, I lived in Japan for two years.

And I have written a novel featuring a master of this art.

TIE ME DOWN, my second in my KNIGHTS IN BLACK LEATHER series, stars Case Turner who is a shibari master.

And just what is shibari?

Shibari, an ancient Japanese art form developed from samurai warriors, is the act of tying someone up. But it is not simply using a rope, tying a few knots and calling it a day. It is an expressive art form, used by 16th and 17th century samurai who lived in a feudal society where constant warfare among clans was the norm.

The use of tying up captured samurai from other clans was practical. These Japanese warriors had no prisons and did not wish to build any. Warfare in this period was fast, bloody and decisive. This meant that a samurai, who was bound by a code called bushido (Way of the Warrior) must honor his prisoners according to their rank.

But how could a samurai do that with only rope as his medium?

The warriors developed a system of tying up their opponents in various positions that would incapacitate them. The positions would also show their subjugation to their conquerors. And to distinguish among the prisoners their rank, the warrior created a system of knots and positions that showed to anyone within their armies how valuable this particular prisoner was.

This system of showing honor and respect as well as social rank transformed in the late 18th and 19th centuries into the erotic bondage displays that today we call Kinbaku.

Just as shibari has codes of conduct, so too does Kinbaku, erotic bondage:
1. Bind the prisoner so that he/she may not slip his bonds.

2. Bind the prisoner is such a way that you not cause any physical or mental injury.

3. Create a result that is beautiful to behold.
The fourth rule is optional and is at the decision of the rope master, the Nawashi: Do not allow others to see the process of making the knots.

A Nawashi (rope artist) ties his subject into various poses, all of which show respect and honor to the subject and the master. The subject must practice total submission to the Nawashi and this requires not only practice but patience and concentration.  The art of working the ropes in a demonstration can take hours.

The result is a beautiful tableau or picture of a naked body bound in (usually) fine jute. Binding a female, a Nawashi uses the rope and knots to accentuate the curves and hollows of his subject’s hair, arms, legs, toes, fingers, breasts and genitalia. The more skilled the Nawashi, the more finely he can separate each part of his subject’s body and display it in erotic forms. Displaying a male subject can also be done, this time displaying the male body and even arranging the penis and testicles in artful manners. The reward of the Nawashi to his subject for an excellent submission and performance can be sexual intimacy and gratification. This can be done in public or in private as part of after care to the submissive or subject.

Among the most beautiful expressions of Kinbaku are the separation of the female labia. This is done, as you might expect, very carefully by expert Nawashi. The rope usually goes in some fashion around the waist, then loops over the labia, either opening the lips to full view or suppressing them to display their plumpness. Those Nawashi who are superbly qualified may also spread the labia to display the clitoris. Either the clitoris is exposed and in that exhibition gratifies the Nawashi and his subject by protruding or it is covered and thereby stimulated in that fashion.

A female’s subject’s breasts are often bound to display their erotic beauty. Here, they can be bound in ever so many ways with the use of a multitude of stylized knots. All are lovely and expose the suppleness of the breasts in marvelous artistic ways.

Comment here and tell us if you would ever consider being bound by a shibari master!

On Monday, Cerise shared fantastic tips for writing a series. I'll be taking her advice! Resplendence Publishing has requested that I continue on with the world I created in Megan's Men. Book #2 will be a prequel - Drista's story.

Megan's Men
Copyright: Tessie Bradford 2013

The bulk of their guests were outside, so Megan headed to one of the sitting rooms on the main floor. As soon as she crossed the threshold, tears rolled down her cheeks. Her life had been in upheaval for so long and there was so very much she didn’t know about this culture and her potential place in it. Could she have a career or were her men expecting her to be a housewife? They were the leaders of the community. What responsibilities did that place on her? At times, they traveled the galaxies. Would she be left at home for long periods or go with them? Her head began to throb. Megan sat down and covered her face with her hands.

A quiet knock sounded. “Megan, may I come in?”

She looked up to find Drista, Rork’s sister, standing in the doorway. She and her family had been the first arrivals, and they’d had a few minutes to chat before the rest of the people had arrived. Megan had liked her instantly. She was vivacious and extremely personable.

“You may not want to, I’m an emotional mess.” Megan sniffed loudly and did her best to wipe her cheeks.

Drista rushed forward and pulled a handkerchief out of her pocket. “Use this, I promise it’s clean. Amazingly, my boys haven’t required a wipe down yet this evening.” She sat in the chair next to Megan.

“Thanks, I appreciate it. Did the guys send you to find me? I should probably get back to the guests.”

“No, I saw you leave them looking upset, so I followed you. We’ve only just met, but I predict we’re going to be great friends, as well as sisters.” She patted Megan’s knee. “I haven’t been able to pry any of the details out of your men about the how they found you and convinced you to come home with them. It doesn’t surprise me that Rork isn’t sharing, but Garfor is such a romantic and Loban, well everyone knows he likes to talk.” Drista winked and smiled.

“Maybe because they feel badly about how they went about it.”

“Oh, Gods, what did they do?”

“Got me on their ship by deception and brought me here without my consent.”

“You’d best tell me what’s happened, and we girls will decide what needs to be done.”

Megan tried to tell her story without the sexual parts, but quickly realized it was going to be impossible to convey her emotional turmoil without at least alluding to that aspect. It certainly didn’t seem acceptable, though, for her to discuss specifics with Rork’s sister, so she ended up stumbling through her tale and blushing a lot.

“First of all, you’re talking to a Slaterine woman. I obviously understand the intensity of the soul bond. I’ll be shocked if they make it through the evening without whisking you away for a quickie!” Drista laughed and Megan joined her. “There are many here, men and women, who are from other worlds and had no knowledge of the bond and how it would change their lives. May I tell you about my own experience?”

“Yes, please,” Megan answered.

“My mates, Corbin and Jacob, came to Mesta eight years ago on a mining expedition. On their home planet, women are one step above slaves; their only roles are to serve men in every fashion, bear children and keep their opinions to themselves. I was the leader of the Slaterine team assigned to direct their operations.”

“You’ve got to be kidding.”

“Wait, it gets better. They’re brothers, and in their culture, it is acceptable even between family members to fight to the death to claim a woman; sharing doesn’t exist.”

“How in the hell have you three been able to make your relationship work?” Megan thought about Drista’s three small boys and how she’d noticed Corbin and Jacob gazing at her adoringly all evening.

“I won’t lie, everything, and I do mean everything was a battle in the beginning, but bonded mates are destined to be together. It’s not always easy, being willing to compromise and having gigantic patience are essential. Oh, and the mind-blowing sex helps iron out a great many differences.” She raised an eyebrow and grinned.

“I’m worried about my identity within the relationship, Drista,” Megan admitted. “If Garfor, Loban and Rork won’t let me make my own decisions, or try to change my nature, we’re doomed to failure.”

Drista took her hands and stared into her eyes. “Do you love them?”

“Yes.”

“Then do what you have to do to become the type of swaya you want to be.”

Lord Griffin's Prize is getting 5 Stars!

The first reviews for Lord Griffin’s Prize are in and I’m sighing with relief! The first round of reviews are all 5 stars, and now I can relax—pheew! I was so hoping readers would love the enchanted realm Castel Tullamore as much as I did. Here is a sample:

BTS eMagazine. Reviewer Nina Cord gave Lord Griffin’s Prize 5 stars!
Review: Katalina Leon and I have met before—I had the great pleasure to read her collaboration with Ms. Skyze in Claimed By Dragons, which I loved, and her name has been stuck in my head for over a year now, so when I saw she wrote Lord Griffin’s Prize I had to get my paws on it! And when I did I read it through in one sitting, no matter the lateness of the hour.

It was so good I’m getting all giddy about it! It had everything I love! Ireland, a castle, time-travel, paranormal creatures, strong leading lady, sexy as hell hero with absolutely no commitment issues (in fact the opposite he was fiercely loyal, attentive and had a bad case of the hots for his wife even though it had been over 600 years since they last met)! But, all these great things mean nothing if the story isn’t well written.

And it is! It was written to be interesting, addictive (I seriously could not put the book down even though my hubby and dog complained about the night reading) and entertaining! The characters had depth and believability, I loved how Maeve told herself time and time again that all the visions/time-travel she experienced were nothing to worry about, except that she might be going bonkers, but there absolutely was no paranormal activity, period. Loved how she had to backpedal with that. And I loved Ronan who tried so hard to keep things casual when absolutely everything depended on her falling in love with him again, and her being brave enough to admit it after her recently nose-dived sham of a marriage.

Jeep Diva Reviewer Gaele 5 Stars
“A great story with plenty of emotional and physical details that will stir a readers body and mind.”
This was my first introduction to Katalina Leon's work, and I hope to read many more by this author. This book in the Emerald Isle Fantasies series brings us to Tullamore castle in Ireland: a castle with a long history and purported hauntings. Maeve has fled the remnants of her newly divorced life, and come to Tullamore to research her genealogy with hopes to write a historical romance. A dé Burgo by birth, her family's heritage is tied to the castle, and interwoven with the current owners the O'Griofas. Ronan O'Griofa is a purported professor of history and expert on the stories of the castle, and he is going to answer Maeve's questions as he takes her on a tour of the grounds and points of interest.

The world, the otherworldliness of the castle and grounds were beautifully established, there is a curious potential of past meeting present that is physically palpable, and Leon manages to convey that sense in the story. Additionally, the use of legend and history, incorporating a griffin and using the weather and mists of Ireland to further build the paranormal element and build reader's expectations for intrigue.

And intrigue, sexy intrigue at that, there was: from waking to find herself in the midst of a pitched battle for the castle, to late night encounters with a stranger who disappears in a flash, to incredibly steamy sex with the handsome Ronan in a cabin in the woods, Maeve has the information and ability to change her life forever, if only she recognizes it. If you've never been to Ireland, this will make you want to go: and for those who have, the little details that are so unique and yet omnipresent feel just right! Katalina Leon has created a great story with plenty of emotional and physical details that will stir a reader's body and mind, and I now need to read the others in the series.

Nicky Peacock 5 Stars
My Review:
I really loved this book. A time travel, mystical romance without the usual supernatural creatures – utter amazing fantasy! The story was addictive and it was so refreshing to have a normal woman as the lead. I’m not sure where the author is from, but she manages to evoke a strong Celtic feel to the book and doesn’t manage to use British stereotypes that usually end up insulting.
I can’t fault the writing, the whole book flowed really well, and quite frankly I came to the end all too soon. I’m glad to find that its part of a series, so the magic hasn’t ended.
The sex wasn’t sleazy or random and fitted into the story seamlessly – something that sets apart a good romance from straight erotica.
The front cover captures the essence of the story and you can’t beat a hunky, half naked guy to stare at!
I’d really recommend this to anyone wanting a romantic fantasy by their bedside – 5 out 5 stars!
An author often takes their payment in praise. I thank you ladies for handing me a rich payday!

Cerise's 5 Easy Steps to writing a Series!

Prequel #1 to my
Knights in Black Leather series
https://www.ellorascave.com/index.php/authors/index/author/slug/cerise-deland/

Writing a series—especially one that spans the past AND the present—can be a huge challenge to a writer's and a reader's life!

Writing my current KNIGHTS IN BLACK LEATHER series, you know I have recently released a historical prequel...with another to come. So I am into this process like a crazy June bug!

Keeping the facts straight is one thing. But keeping the logic straight for the reader is even more important! You want them to stay with you for all the books and you want them informed, pleased and yearning for more!
How to do that without ticking off readers and keeping all your hair in your head?

First you buy a notebook at the local dime store OR your build a file— or maybe you do both—on your computer.

Then, you promise yourself that as you write you will take these 5 "Easy" Steps.

1. First step involves the names of characters. Keep them distinct.
Always keep a record of your names, first, last and nickname. Excel spreadsheet works best because you can record last names and first in various ways.
Always make certain that you have no repeats, like Jake or Jack or even Jackson. Merely the look of the first letter on the page triggers the reader's mind to record this as one or the other. You never want confusion in their mind or yours.
If you are really into this process, it is a good idea to also note their eye color, height, hair color, etc. just so you don't confuse one with another.
This also helps when you want to talk about any family characteristics they share!

Book #1, Contemporary in my
KNIBL series
2. Record any dates for actions in plot or dates of birth of characters.
These are pesky issues that later on can cause you trouble because the facts are buried in the text. Write them down as you go—and be sure to change them if you change the text.
Remember, too, that if your first book in the series debuted 2 years ago and you mark time in a different way in the fiction than chronologically, you need to tell the reader this. How? Either in the text itself, with such sentences like, "Jake and Susannah had been married for five months when Max came to town. He knew he had little chance of breaking them up. And to try would be so wrong."

3. Keep another record of family events or community events that recur.
Does the town have an annual Memorial Day Parade and is the Sheriff always the Grand Marshall of the event?
Did the local high school burn down in the last book in June?
Was the town founded by renegade outlaws after the Civil War?
You want to record any pertinent facts so you don't have to hunt them down every time you need a refresher.
If you want to also note where these references occurred in which book in the series and on what page, even better!
Most important, if any of these events are significant to this family, town or area for a particular reason, then you want to note how and why it is. Then, never vary only elaborate on that.

Book #2, Contemporary in my
KNIBL series
4. Jot down the major conflicts between your hero and heroine or others in the stories.
You do not want to write the same book twice in your series.
And if you can develop an over-arching challenge among all the characters then this enriches your series.
In KNIGHTS IN BLACK LEATHER, the big challenge in town is that there are fewer women than men. The men, therefore, have learned to "share." Menages and a quatre unions are plentiful!
This makes for a lot of continuity, but it also means I have a lot of potential for internal and couples' conflicts.

5. Draw a family tree or a relationship tree.

Often times in a series, a few of the characters are related by blood or incident.  If this is so in your books, as it is in my KNIBL series, then it is vital that you draw one of these.  Even if it never appears in any of your books, this tree is an easy visual that will keep you on the straight and narrow when it comes to facts about their relationships.

Your readers will love it when you keep them organized.
And they will continue to buy your series of books!
BUY my series to see how this is done at: https://www.ellorascave.com/index.php/authors/index/author/slug/cerise-deland/
