2015 Here We Come!

I can't wait to kiss 2014 goodbye and start 2015. 2014 was one of the hardest years of my life and I am so happy to see to go. I am so grateful I didn't know what lay ahead at the beginning of 2014. This was a year that could only be taken one day at a time.

I've said it here many times, but the loss of my sister and being responsible for her care, in a situation that couldn't be softened was hard. I came away feeling traumatized, like I'd been held hostage by something horrible that wouldn't allow us to come up for air. During the crisis, it was easy for me to jump in and cope. Several months later, I'm feeling the weight of what we went through. I can't shut down or turn away because my younger brother, is terminally ill also. He's not living with me, but in the next months my parents are going to need my help. I'm trying to spend as much time with him as possible. It's a weird limbo to be in. I have to let David go, but we're not ready to say goodbye.

Throughout 2014, I wrote like a fiend, yet I didn't release a single new title. 2014 was all about reinvention and improvement. I took back the copyrights to seven books and left two publishers behind. It was difficult but had to be done.

The good news is I have several new publishers and at least six new titles coming soon.

A friend who is an astrologer has christened 2015 "The Year of Remembering." I'm not sure what that means, but I'm ready for a change of pace a new set of challenges.

I wish everyone a wonderful year ahead. May the hard things get easier and may 2015, be a kinder year to all of us.

Happy New Year!

Man O' man am I happy to be kissing 2013 good-bye!

2013 was a rough ride down a bumpy road. Lots of hard work, loss of many loved ones and little good news...

Hopefully 2014 will be a softer kinder year for all of us.

Tonight for the first time 19 years we will be treated to the astronomical rarity of a new moon on the first day of the new year. What does this mean? Maybe nothing, but if you tend to believe as I do that our natural environment affects our environment and emotional state then this is an excellent time to purge that which does not serve you and make room for something new.

I plan on going through my closet, drawers and beauty products and giving away or throwing away anything I'm not using.

On January 31st we will be starting the Chinese year of the "Horse". The Chinese calendar has at least three different starting dates and the current year is approximately 4712.

The year of Horse will be characterized by a strong desire for improvement, ethos and unremitting effort.  Great strides can be taken this year. People born in this year will have good communication skills. Their weakness are a sense of impatience and hot tempers.

We are staying in this year and enjoying some excellent Mexican food and watching the new BBC Sherlock Holmes. How are you spending your New Year?

Up to my Eyeballs

I'm very busy this week. I'm under tight deadline for a Valentine's short due the 1st. Working on revisions to resubmit to my editor and editing my three book series Shea Manor to submit. Last week I wasn't able to do ANY writing. I thought being on vacation would provide lots of time - HA!!!! I hadn't accounted for the lack of shopping I'd done to that point. DH and I were out all day and night, every day until Christmas Eve.
We've been reflecting on how poorly we managed our preparations this year. We're usually very organized. The kids had an enjoyable holiday, as did my mom. She travels to our house every year and spends about a week here. Being her only child she misses having me and her grandchildren close by. I'm trying to talk her into moving here in the spring. My FIL even jumped on the bandwagon. He provided her with a ton of information for places to live. Gotta love the man! :)
This year I'm not making any New Year's Resolutions. I never stick to them. 2009 was good to me and I'm hoping 2010 is better. While I hoped to see 10 contracts, I only reached 8. LOL I know that's terrific as far as I'm concerned. I'm shooting a little higher this year and hoping for 12 and while I'm at it I'm aiming for an agent and/or publishing contract from a "print" publisher. Those are my only 2 writing hopes for 2010.
Other than that I'm wishing for health and happiness for all my family and friends, especially my online friends who have supported me this past year. I adore you all!

Happy New Year!!!!
