Hello Amber! Edits!

Christmas in October!!!

I love edits...to quote Ginger Rogers from How to Marry a Millionaire...simply adore 'em!

When my editor returns my story with the first or second set of edits, my heart beats fast, the blood rushes through my veins and I open that email like it's the best Christmas present I have ever received. I love to see what my editor has said, changed, added, subtracted, suggested.

Maybe it's because I was an editor myself back in college and I enjoyed nothing more than digging right in and cleaning up what might potentially turn out to be a great work of art. Must be my obsessive-compulsive nature.

My new editor, hereafter known as CD, is amazing! She is perfect. She misses nothing, makes hilarious suggestions and comments and forces me to pay attention to the little things. I am so grateful to have her.

So to answer the question you posed in your previous post, Amber, I have a blast with edits!

Reasons Why...

My First Romance - Don't Laugh!

Of course I read Fear of Flying - years ago, that's not really romance, but what got me into romance was a real fear of flying. Fighting panic on a flight to Austin, Texas, another passenger handed me a romance novel and low and behold...I forgot to be afraid! She let me keep the book and it became my fear of flying book, my talisman if you wish. The simple story got me through flights for several years.

The book is - The Charm Stone, by Donna Kauffman, and it is indeed, charming...a little goofy, but delightful. It certainly did the trick when it came to distracting me from my fear of flying! Of course, I've since graduated to other authors and I've overcome my fear, but The Charm Stone will always have a special place in my heart.

Romance accomplishes so many things - it warms the heart, it provides hope, distraction, a happy ending and there are far too few happy endings in real life. The more romance I read, the more I came to realize that I too had stories to tell, stories of love and hope and challenges overcome and yeah, hot sex. Romance is just plain old fun and fun is vastly underrated, while angst is vastly overrated in my opinion. I don't need to read about angst - I live it, I work with it. When I read, I want to be in a Calgon commercial - take me away....

Eeek!

There's a Mouse in My House!

I would like nothing better than to promote my new releases and my soon-to-be releases, but I ain't got none! Everything is coming out in 2010 - You Might Just Get It - a short story included in the Cougar Anthology will be released by Logical-Lust on February 14th, 2010.

Beauty and the Feast - a contemporary romance comes out in March, 2010, with Resplendence Publishing - under my other pen name, Chana Alexander.

Daughters of Persephone, Books One, Two and Three - Exile, Return, Reborn - futuristic romance, also with Resplendence, arrive in July and August of 2010, again by Chana Alexander.

And then...a sequel to Beauty and the Feast - if I can get my act together - three current WIP - and OMG! Two little brown mice just ran across my kitchen floor and my cats are nowhere to be found. This is their job! Gotta go find the dang cats and make them patrol the kitchen!
