Operation Second Honeymoon - Releases Today!
Blurb:
On the
verge of their tenth anniversary, Cole is planning a surprise gift aboard a
boat for his wife Avery. Bathing suits are optional - preferably left behind.
The only other thing they need to make this weekend perfect? Owen their next
door neighbor.
Out on the open sea, Avery will find herself tied to the rails being tortured in the sweetest ways imaginable. The men take her to delicious heights, only to leave her hanging - if only momentarily. When she demands an orgasm she oversteps the boundaries Cole and Owen have but in place. The two men spank her back into submission. There's nothing like red cheeks to ignite the flames of desire in Cole.
After a tremulous six months of clawing their way back together, Avery is ready to accept the help she needs to fix the marriage her husband has fought so hard to save. Will a weekend of hot, sweaty sex be enough to rescue them?

Excerpt:
Owen inched his body closer. Avery turned to flee from him,
but he was much quicker. He wrapped her in an embrace and dunked her under.
When she came up for air, she punched him in his arm, only
to be met by a brick wall. The muscles in his biceps were made of steel.
“Ouch.” She shook her fist. “You don’t play fair.”
“Hey, I didn’t ask you to punch me. I could’ve told you to
save your energy.”
Somehow she managed to slip away to the other side of the
oval pool. Owen lagged behind, Avery couldn’t help but wonder if he sported an
erection and that was why he didn’t bother following her. Temptation to look
filled her, but she bit her lip instead and diverted her attention to the
outside of the pool.
“Whatcha looking at?” Owen swam up beside her.
“Checking on the garden. Wanted to see if the veggies are
growing,” she lied. “Hey, I need to ask you something.” Avery turned her head
to look at Owen.
“Avery. Avery… How does your garden grow?”
“It’s bare,” she declared. She couldn’t believe the bold
words had left her mouth. She’d just told Owen that her pussy was shaved. Cole
would freak if he knew she’d been discussing something so private with him.
“Hmmm.” Owen turned and swam away, doing the backstroke.
Avery sneaked a peek of his hard cock outlined by his wet
emerald swim trunks. It looked massive.
She groaned. This wasn’t going according to plan.
“I should be going back in. I can’t be away from work for
too long.”
“What was that question you wanted to ask?”
“Do you know anything about…?”
“What’s going on here?” Cole asked, entering the backyard.
Oh fuck. What was he doing home so early?
“Hey, man. You’re wife offered the pool so I could cool off.
I kinda pushed her in because she was being a sissy about getting wet.”
Cole laughed. “It’s about time someone showed her the proper
way to get in.”
As Cole drew closer to the pool, she noticed a mischievous
look in his pale blue eyes.
Cole Jackson, what in
God’s name are you up to?
“I was just getting out. I have to get back to work.” She struggled
up the ladder. For some reason, her legs decided they didn’t want to work
anymore. She fell back into Owen’s waiting arms.
“Gotcha.” He smiled, and she felt that jolt of electricity
shoot right to her core. She wasn’t sure what was going on, but she knew she
had to get out of there. She hadn’t felt that attracted to another man in over
twelve years.
“Thanks.” Avery moved from his grip and flew up the ladder
and out of the pool. She wrapped her slender body in the beach towel and off
the deck she went.
“No kiss for your husband?” Cole called after her.
“In the house, honey. I think I’m late for a meeting.” The
only meeting she was late for was one with her vibrator. If she didn’t orgasm
now, she’d explode.
The ache between her legs needed to be dealt with. Her heart
pumped wildly. Her body felt like it’d been teased and tortured and left to
fend for itself when it came time for an orgasm. Owen had her libido in
overdrive.

Coming Soon
For the last week I’ve been working hard on edits for
Operation: Second Honeymoon. Let me start off by saying I’m thrilled they’re
letting me keep the title. I love it. I’m sorry if others don’t, but I really
do.
I wrote this book for a few different reasons. I used it as
a therapeutic venue on some levels, at the suggestion of my wonderful friend
Kat.
The heroine, Avery has suffered a loss and instead of
turning to her husband, the man she loves with all her heart…she pushes him
away. This once happy couple suddenly finds they’re lost and alone.
Avery’s husband Cole will do anything to save their marriage
and get his wife back.
We all know I suffered a big loss a few years ago. I basically
did the same thing, by pushing hubby away. I was ready to end my marriage for
many different reasons. Some brought on by depression and some by delusions. Looking
back I’m happy HE decided to stand by me and realized it was something that
would pass.
Hubby suffered too. He essentially lost his son and his
wife. His problem was he wouldn’t turn to me to talk. He kept it inside, so he
could be my rock.
Grief and loss can take a toll on any relationship if not
addressed properly.
All seriousness aside, Operation: Second Honeymoon will also
bring happiness to readers. You’ll see the love Avery and Cole share in the
beginning. The story is an M/F/M ménage. Readers will also be introduced to
Owen, the couple’s next door neighbor.
Cover art, blurb and tasty excerpt coming soon!
Operation: Second Honeymoon will be released by Loose Id on
July 9th.

Welcome Becky Black
Ebooks are the wave of the
future. Even those publishers who don't want to believe it's true know it. I do
most of my reading on my Kindle or tablet now. When people are reading ebooks
they are reacting to them as people have always done to books. They react to
the text. The text is the book, not the container the text is in.
And yet there is still
something magical about having a print release...
Everyone old enough to be
reading my books now grew up with books as things made of paper and card. Some
with pictures in them as well as the text. Sometimes stunning colour plates.
Books weighed down your schoolbag. Their pages got wrinkly from reading in the
bath. Old books got worn out, pages yellow and foxed, starting to fall apart.
But we held them in as much affection and considered them as precious as family
photographs. A book signed by the author is especially exciting for some people
and you can't really do that with an ebook.
Paper books have such
strong emotional resonance for some people that it's hard to let them go
entirely in favour of ebooks. It's like the switch from vinyl to CD. Some
people resisted that for a long time. And though the ebook is on the rise, but
it will be a long time before it replaces the kind of book that counts as a
work of art in itself. Or cookbooks, with their glossy photos of fantasy food. Or
children's books that babies appreciate for their chewiness as well as their
content.
So as great as ebooks are,
and as much as I'm delighted to be published by a "digital first"
publisher, I can't deny that parcel of author copies gives me a thrill like no
other.
I have three books in
print now.

Trust isn't something Patience Middleton gives very often, especially in the bedroom. She's been looked at as a slut for wanting more than a vanilla sex life. When she meets William LaBorde he's offering everything she wants which is a whole lot more than she can handle. He wants to know all her deepest darkest desires, plus he's sexy, sweet and willing to make all her fantasies come true.
Patience gives in briefly until William gives her a familiar look of what she perceives as disgust. It takes some doing, but eventually he convinces her his only wish is to make her happy in the bedroom, against the wall or under the Christmas tree.
Things go awry again, though, when Patience's dream fantasy turns into a nightmare. Can William save the day and will she finally give herself to him; body, heart and soul?
Excerpt:
“What brings you here tonight?” She didn’t notice a wedding band, but that didn’t mean anything. He probably had a small child who wanted one of the hot new toys. She didn’t envy him. She didn’t have the first clue what children liked. If it weren’t for her sister’s request, she’d likely just give Kyle a gift card and be done with it.
Maneuvering the toy department never had been her thing.
“My friend’s child could use some cheering up. Father’s been gone for a bit.”
Was that sadness in his eyes? Her heart swelled; his story touched her. He truly cared for his friend’s child.
“Funny, me too. My nephew. Do you have any children?” Nothing like getting right to the point. Not that she wouldn’t be interested in him if he had children; she’d prefer her man to be completely hers.
What the hell was she thinking? She wasn’t going to be dating this man. She’d just met him. She knew nothing about him except he had a soft side toward children. And she certainly wasn’t going to engage in a relationship with him. She didn’t need the headaches, but cozying up to his big, strong body did sound appealing.
“No kids. You?”
“Nah. I’m not ready for them yet. Maybe in five, six years.” She figured thirty-five was a good age to have children. By then she’d be done traveling or doing whatever the hell she wanted.
“Seems reasonable. I like the idea of children now, but I’d be willing to wait too.” He tilted his head and flashed a grin.
Patience laughed despite herself. He was flirting. She liked that.
“When should we get married?” Again, she couldn’t believe the words slipping from her mouth.
He pretended to look at a watch on his wrist. “I’m free in a few hours. I’m sure there’s a justice of the peace out there willing to perform the ceremony.”
“I believe my calendar is free too.” Patience played along with his game.
“Seriously, though, I’d like to take you to breakfast or coffee after this, if you’re really free.”
How did she answer that? She was free, but should she go with him, alone? He was funny and cute. It was just breakfast, after all. They’d be in a public place.
“Sure, why not?”
“Great! Do me a favor. Keep my spot, and I’ll be right back.”
“Okay.” She found it strange that he decided to take off after agreeing to breakfast, but he said he’d be right back. Hopefully no one would get upset when he returned and cut the line. He wouldn’t really be cutting, but those who weren’t here to see him wouldn’t realize that.
She watched as he jogged off into the parking lot. She lost him in the mix of cars.
When twenty minutes passed and he didn’t return, she wondered if William had been real or a figment of her imagination. She didn’t have time to worry, though. The store would open, and she had to fight off the cold numbing her toes.

Reviews
Yes, I’m back on this subject again. :o) Here’s the thing. I
read them and like to file away – good or bad. I’d like to say I never read
them, but that would be a lie. The bad sting and the wound will smart for most
of the day and then I move on.
One thing I can’t understand from reviewers is if you read a
book from an author and you didn’t like it – why would you read another from
the same author?
Going back to the fact that I used to review if I didn’t
like a book by an author I wouldn’t read anymore of his or her books. I didn’t
because I felt I couldn’t get a fair review. I bring this up because of a
recent review Kat and I received. The reviewer said she read one of my Loose id
books and didn’t like it, but wanted to give a co-authored book a try. WHY?
I’m all for constructive criticism. I’ve even agreed with
reviewers at times. After reading a few reviews on this site, I don’t put much
stock in the reviewer’s comments. Life is short and not everyone will like my
books. I can’t worry about others think, unless they become the majority. Most of
the time it’s a few disgruntled reviewers who have an axe to grind.

New Projects!
I've had this song stuck in my head for almost two days. I love it and I am ready to take that tiger outside for a ride...
This was another busy week. I finished all principle edits for "Claimed By Dragons" last week and Amber and I are really excited to share this book with everyone else. This story has a lot of humor and adventure and I fell in love big time with the dragon-shifters Roarke and Kypton and the troubles they face as half human beings in a modern world.
This is our new cover for "Claimed By Dragons" coming September 28th from Loose Id Publishing.

series with eight other terrific EC authors and I can’t wait until we’re a
little further into the project to start sharing details about it.
Next Wednesday author Liz Crowe will be my guest and she has lots to share including an exclusive deleted scene from her new book "Conditional Offer" Please check back next Wednesday for that!

New Excerpt of "The Strix"
This week has been so busy. Last week was too. I'm on round two of edits for book two of The Bag Of Tricks book series, "Claimed By Dragons", which I promise is shaping up into a big, crazy, erotic adventure of a book.
But today I want to share a little more of The Strix.
Short blurb for The Strix:
After drawing a piece of amber from a witch's wish bag, Arcona
awakens to a past life as a vengeful Celtic witch - a Strix, who used
blood and sex magic to get her way. She turned the gladiator Tyr into a
bloodthirsty Slayer. Now Tyr wants his revenge.
The Strix is a vampire tale told through the eyes of one woman
who comes in contact with her past life as a witch and vengeful captive of
Rome. It’s a contemporary and a historical tale at the same time.
This excerpt takes place in Pompeii 78 AD. Arcona is a young
Germanic woman who has been captured by Romans and sold as a pleasure slave to
the owner of gladiatorial school. In this scene she breaks the rules and
escapes her courtyard prison to peek over the balcony into the ludus or gladiatorial school attached to the villa. She sees Tyr below.
…She crouched low and crept toward the
back balcony that overlooked the ludus, where
enslaved gladiators were quartered and trained. Surprisingly there were none of
the expected sounds of clashing shields or wooden practice swords. The drill yard
was silent of the usual clang of battle craft and the sounds of men arguing.
The villa’s rear balcony hovered high
above the fray and was safely separated from the ludus by thick earthen walls
topped with iron spikes and barred gates below, yet it provided an unencumbered
bird’s-eye view of the daily mayhem that took place in the dirt yard beyond.
The August heat of the drill yard, and the
scent of men’s sweat hung heavy in the air. Arcona peeked over the top of the
balcony and into the sunbaked ludus below. Most of the gladiators were leaning
against a far wall, standing in the shade, their swords and shields cast on the
ground.
She couldn’t believe the always strict
Cilician trainer would allow such slothful behavior, until she scanned the
drill yard and saw the Cilician was nowhere in sight.
A dark Gaulish gladiator named Rog stood
at the barracks door, pounding loudly on it with his fists. His angry words
were so garbled she could hardly make out what he said.
A small crowd of gladiators gathered around
Rog, and they too shouted threats and pounded their fists against the sealed
door. She watched the events carefully but couldn’t figure out what the enraged
commotion was about.
Only one man, a murmillo,
the largest and most powerful class of gladiator, remained
active on the drill yard. The man had sandy-blond hair and a beautiful sweeping
back, which made him breathtaking to look at. She had studied this same man on
many occasions and found him fascinating to watch. He was so unlike the others
who tended to clump together in groups and speak as a mob.
The murmillo stood apart. He was quiet and
solitary. All the times she had spied on the ludus she had never heard him
speak, yet she noticed the other gladiators looked to him constantly as an
example, which he quietly provided. Any martial skills he mastered the others
were quick to imitate.
For such a large man he moved with power
and grace, holding a sword in one hand and a heavy, iron-rimmed shield that
stood nearly as tall as he in the other. He advanced with calculated steps
across the packed dirt of the yard, thrusting and parrying his blade against an
imaginary foe.
He ignored the angry chaos surrounding him
and worked through his practice drills with concentrated precision. His skin
glistened golden under the noon sun. His focused gaze remained lethal and
aloof. He looked incapable of distraction, as if he occupied an entirely
different realm from the others.
He swung the sword in tight, controlled
circles as he stabbed and sliced at his own shadow. He moved beneath the
balcony and paused. His sword arm stilled. He held the shield high between him
and the others and glanced directly at her.
His clear hazel eyes made such forceful
contact with her she felt as if she’d been touched. She was left breathless.
Despite her caution about remaining unseen, he seemed to possess another sense
that alerted him to her presence. Perhaps she was not so stealthy, because he
often noticed her crouching behind the balcony while the others remained
oblivious.
She gazed into his eyes and froze, unable
to look away. She wondered how it was possible for such a formidable man to
become enslaved to Rome.
A slight smile curled the
edge of his lips. He gazed at her with scorching intensity as
if he meant to bolt over the wall and grab her.
She felt a little flutter of anxious
tension and desire and struggled to extinguish it.
The barrack door burst open with a loud bang, and
a wailing, hysterical woman staggered into the yard with tears streaming down
her face. Her tunic was rumpled and hung from her shoulders, exposing her
breasts and back. She tried to wrap her head shawl around her body to cover
herself. She ran straight toward Rog and threw her arms around his neck, and
clung to him.
Rog snatched the woman into his arms. He crushed
his face against her thick, dark hair and appeared to be sobbing.
The Cilician trainer strode out the open
door with a churlish smile on his swarthy face. He gazed at the gladiators
resting in the shade. A look of rage hardened on his harsh mouth. “Pick up your
weapons, you slothful oxen! Just because I took a pleasure break doesn’t mean
you get one.”
Rog glared at the Cilician, bared his
teeth, and snarled. “I hate you! I’ll stuff a blade in your gut the first
chance I get!”
“I don’t think so.” The Cilician dismissed
Rog with a rude wave of his hand. “By the way, I enjoyed fucking your wife.
Tell her to come back next week.”…
Obviously the ludus is a demoralizing
place to be imprisoned but believe it or not a kernel of real love does take
root here.
I hope you enjoyed the excerpt and will
check out The Strix.

"The Strix" New Excerpt
This is an excerpt from “The Strix”. In
this scene Arcona has escaped a witch’s shop and fallen straight into the hands
of handsome stranger, who happens to be waiting for her in a dark alley the
moment she steps outside. The man she meets owns an odd bar named
Slayers that’s peopled with more strange men…
“I wouldn’t go that way if I were you,” he
called out to her.
She turned. “Why?”
“It’s a dead end.” A sly smile crossed his
face. “Unless you’re carrying a grappling hook and a climbing rope in your
purse, you’ll never get over the eight-foot brick wall waiting for you around
the corner.”
He lifted his hand into the air and slowly
motioned for her to approach. “Come here.” His tone softened. “A beautiful
woman really shouldn’t be walking alone at night; it’s not safe. You can take a
shortcut through my bar and walk straight onto a lit street.”
She relaxed her tensed shoulders. There
was something dangerously intriguing about this Nordic beauty that drew her
toward him. “You own Slayers?”
“Yes.” A proud smile warmed his sharply
chiseled features. “You’ve heard of Slayers? My name’s Varn.” He thrust his
palm forward in greeting.
“Hello, Varn.” She was too nervous to
grasp his hand.
“Come inside and stay for a drink if you like.”
“I thought
Slayers was some sort of private gentlemen’s club?”
Varn’s brows arched. He laughed softly as
if he were enjoying a private joke. “Slayers is a gentlemen’s club by nature,
not by choice. We’d welcome the privilege of entertaining an attractive female
patron.” His eyes glittered in the darkness, almost as if they were casting
their own light. “By the way, I’m not sure it’s accurate to describe us as
gentlemen.”
He looked intense but seemed
good-tempered. She silently admitted it was a heady thrill to have such a striking,
semidangerous-looking man flirting with her. She loved the whole underworld
attraction of ultratough guys but had never found one she could actually trust
and relate to; most were just trouble, plain and simple.
A cool breeze funneled through the alleyway
and blew Varn’s long hair away from his steep cheekbones. This guy sure looked
like a big, burly bushel of trouble. His knuckles were raw with scars like he
got in a fistfight every Saturday night, and won. Her imagination was really
running away with her, but what the hell? He was just a bar owner in a touristy
town, not a world-class mercenary, for God’s sake, though he certainly
looked like one. The touch of danger called like a Siren’s song to her
attention-starved libido.
“If you don’t mind, I think I will dart
through.” God help, she was already thinking of staying for a drink and maybe
more. Why rush back to an empty hotel room when a little fun might be had? She
tried to be stealthy as she swept her gaze over Varn’s thick forearms. His
sleeves were rolled up, and he didn’t seem the least bit bothered by the chill.
In her mind she cataloged each exciting
detail, loving everything she saw. Solid, tough, and steely described Varn
perfectly. How much would Jael love this guy’s icy good looks? A lot. She owed
it to Jael to at least check this guy out.
Varn reached toward her and offered his
hand a second time. “Be careful stepping over the crates. There are a couple of
broken bottles. I wouldn’t want you to get hurt.”
She took hold of his hand. His grip was
iron, and his hands were heavily calloused.
Varn grabbed her around the waist and
lifted her to his shoulders with an easy swoop.
She gasped in surprise as Varn
effortlessly elevated her high above the crates and set her down gently at the
threshold of Slayers’ back door.
He opened the door for her with a
flourish. “After you.”
She breathlessly planted her boots on the
ground. Men didn’t just pick her up and twirl her through the air every day,
especially gorgeous ones in black silk shirts. This was a special thrill. What
else could this guy do to make her heart race faster?
She felt a little shaky as she entered
Slayers and immediately noted the building was chilly and dimly lit by
old-fashioned kerosene lanterns. The scent of fresh-cut cedar hung in the air.
Her first impression was Slayers felt like a men’s outdoor camping trip.
They walked down a narrow service hallway
lined with wooden casks, dark cubicles, and storage closets, and past a small,
candlelit room strewn with earthy red cushions and a curved lounge, before
entering the main part of the bar.
Her gaze narrowed as she entered the room.
The interior of Slayers was an odd, ultramacho ensemble of an old West saloon
complete with a naked lady etched into an antique Parisian-style mirror hanging
above the bar, a Viking longhouse with exposed wooden beams and dragons carved
into the individual booths, and a military barrack embellished with Roman
shields, medieval swords, weapons, and artillery shells of every description.
“Wow.” Every bizarre detail dazzled her.
She couldn’t settle for long on a single thing. Slayers’ decor seemed to
chronicle every great moment in warfare and mayhem. “Who’s your decorator?”
She began to worry she was barking up the
wrong tree. When Varn had said gentlemen’s club, had he meant gay? This place
definitely looked like it was a testosterone-drenched, chest-thumping,
dick-swinging, war-craft-loving, all-male celebration, no-pink-panty zone.
A few of Slayers’ patrons sat in dark
booths quietly playing cards and drinking from an eclectic selection of
pewter-topped beer steins or wooden tankards. The rough- faced men casually
looked up at her before returning their full attention to the card game.
There seemed to be a lot of combat boots
and leather worn in this place along with steel rivets and fur. The whole place
looked a little too Road Warrior, even for her
tastes.
Varn leaned close to her ear. “Would you
like a Humpen?”
His deep voice sent thrilling shivers up
her spine.
“Would I like what?” she asked in
alarm.
Varn pointed toward a row of polished
stoneware beer mugs lined up on the bar. He walked toward the bar, picked up a
chunky mug, and began to draw a trickle of rich black beer from a keg. “A
Humpen is a half-liter beer stein.”
His gaze dropped toward the dark, liquid
filling the mug. “This is Slayers’ signature brew. It’s an ancient recipe and
the only brew we drink. You can’t get it anywhere else. I want you to try it
and tell me what you think.”
He handed Arcona the weighty mug with a
tall head sloshing over the rim.
She accepted the drippy mug and fought the
impulse to wipe her wet fingers on her pant legs. “Thank you.” She hoisted the
mug in a toast. “To Slayers.” She paused before taking the first sip. “Are you
going to drink?”
A dreamy, sexy expression briefly crossed
Varn’s face. “I’ll drink later.”

"The Strix" Is Coming Soon To Loose Id!
Amber and I got our new book cover for "The Strix" last week and we were jumping for joy! I love the gorgeous cover that artist Valerie Tibbs designed for us. The eyelashes on this man really get to me.
I also have a beautiful slightly spooky book trailer coming soon that I hope to have posted in the next couple of days.
Meanwhile the countdown continues. The Strix will be released next Tuesday July 17th
from Loose Id Publishing. We are really looking forward to sharing this book.
Blurb: The Strix
A cursed amber amulet unearthed in
Pompeii flings Arcona into a past life of witchcraft, bloodshed, revenge and
sexual slavery to the cruel Master of a gladiatorial school. This violent
parallel world is populated with “Slayers,” blood-drinking immortals devoted to
the gods of war and mayhem.
As a Strix, or malignant witch,
Arcona once used sex and blood rituals to create a race of immortal warriors to
unleash on Rome. Now it’s time to pay.
The gladiator Tyr was one desperately
lonely lover she betrayed. Against his will, she turned him into Upir
Likhyi, a foul vampire. For two millennia he’s lived a grim
existence as a Slayer, in constant sexual arousal yet denied release; now, he's
pissed off and wants revenge. He kidnaps Arcona planning to drink her dry and
break the curse.
Along the way Arcona and Tyr relive
their sexual slavery at the hands of Rome and blood sport in the arena, but the
real magic is they forgive and fall in love.
Too bad another Slayer wants them
dead.
