5 DIY Sexy Halloween Costumes

Halloween isn’t just for kids. Grown-ups love it too! There are so many after-hour parties and clubs hosting Halloween festivities, I encourage you to step out and make a night of it! Or if you’re bound to stay home, there’s no reason why you can’t use these ideas to spice it up in the bedroom. *wink*

Sexy Schoolgirl

Have a miniskirt? Better yet, a plaid one? Dig that sucker out and pair with your highest heels and a simple white button-down shirt. Slip your sexiest lace bra under it and leave the shirt buttons open to reveal just enough! Don’t forget to put your hair in pigtails, braids, or a high ponytail. That should get some stares!

Sexy Cop
Slick black pants, your hubby’s dress shirt pinned and tucked in so it conforms to your body. Add mirrored sunglasses. You might have to visit the dollar store or costume store for a police officer’s hat and badge, but these will be worthy investments. Psst—take command later. That lover has been a baaaaad boy.

Naughty Maid
Black miniskirt and form-fitting black top. If you have a pair of black thigh-highs or garter belt and stockings, this works best, but black pantyhose will work too. Dig out your highest black heels. Add a choker made of a strip of black or white fabric. Even a piece of elastic tied in a bow around your throat will work. (don’t make it too tight, of course.) A white apron is ideal. If you don’t have one, cut up a white pillowcase and use hot glue to create it. Grab a feather duster, and you’re out the door!

Fallen Angel
White nightgown, lingerie, or even a slip. Create Victoria’s Secret runway model hair with hot curlers (you want guys to run their fingers through it). Create a pair of wings from cardboard and lots of glitter. Create wing straps with elastic or string. Add some gold bangle bracelets. Repurpose a wire clothes hanger as a halo, bending the wire to the shape of your head, then up into the halo portion. Cover halo with fabric or tissue paper and dip in glitter. Of course you want high heels. I personally think vampy red stilettos would be HOT.

Hot Nurse
If you have a white minidress, this is the perfect start to your costume. If not, a long white tunic or a long white top works well. The more leg, the better! Grab a stethoscope from your child’s toy kit. Don’t have one? You can pick one up at a med supply store for under $10. White stockings and garters are necessities! And don’t forget the nurse’s cap. Make your own following these instructions: http://sewing.about.com/od/hallowee1/ss/Free-Pattern-and-Directions-to-Create-a-Nurses-Cap.htm

Now that you have the idea in place, I expect pictures, people! *grin*

Thanks for reading. Now enjoy a hot scene from UNBROKEN, my latest cowboy ménage from Samhain!

It’ll take more than rope to tie down the man they love.

Country Fever, Book 3

When Christian comes out of the bar to find a bat-wielding country girl beating the hell out of his best friend Tucker’s truck, he does the only thing he can—he flirts with her. Unfortunately, he knows her pain—he’s in love with Tucker too.

Claire plans to nurse her bruised heart alone, but inevitably Tucker draws her back in—along with Christian—and the three of them tumble headlong into delirious passion. Then she and Christian wake to find that Tucker has fled his horse ranch, leaving them to care for the animals and each other.

Still grieving the death of his fiancée, pressured to sign over mining rights to a coal company, Tucker is boots-deep in emotional turmoil. Running only sharpens his longing for what he truly wants—Christian and Claire in his bed, in the barn, and under the stars.

But roping themselves firmly inside the circle of love will take everything they have—bulldogged determination, flying fists and aching hearts.

Product Warnings
Wrangle one heartsick cowboy, and the man and woman who love him. Throw in weeks of working in close quarters, bales of pent-up lust, and feel the burn of prairie-fire-hot desire. Now just try to walk away with your heart unbranded.

Tucker cocked a brow. “I’d say you’ve been spending too much time with Letty. You’re talking like an old lady.”
The corner of Christian’s mouth quirked up. “That’s true. We’ve been living here like a cozy family. What do you have to say to that?”
It hurts like hell that you were able to survive at all without me.
He couldn’t say it. Jealousy was a hot coal in his gut. “I’m thankful that you took care of things.”
“Things meaning Claire.”
“Yeah, and more. She sure deserves someone better than me.”
“Someone like me,” Christian said in a voice that said he really believed it. He met Tucker’s gaze head-on, the lights in his eyes as challenging as the headlights of a big rig barreling at him without brakes. “If you intend to hurt her again, I’m going to have to kick your ass, Langley.”
He nodded once, hard. Then probed Christian’s stare deeper. “And if I hurt you?”
“You have. I think you know…my feelings for you. In case letting you take me in the ass wasn’t enough of an indication.”

October

Yesterday on my blog I talked about cutting ties. In life sometimes we have to cycle things much like the seasons. October is in full swing now and while I’ll miss the summer I do enjoy a lot of things about this month.
The fall foliage in New England is just gorgeous. The brilliant colors of the leaves before they fall; reds, gold, and orange brings awe to me every year. October brings hot apple cider, doughnuts, apple picking and let’s not forget Halloween.
Up until eight years ago every October my mom, aunt, cousin and our kids would go apple picking every year. Watching the kids climb ladders or reach with little hands for the precious fruit was always rewarding as a mother. They’d pick out their pumpkins on the way out, not before going on a hay ride, ride the ponies and visit the haunted house. The orchard we went to every year had hundreds of vendors and the adults would come home with lots of goodies.
Then there’s Halloween. The DH decorates the outside of the house and has creepy stuff to scare the kids when they arrive for their treats. There have been a few years where some kids went running back to their parents without their treats.
That’s what I like about October. How about you?

Scary Bites!

Real Life Ghost Stories

Remember the movie The Sixth Sense? That was me. When my mom saw the film, she called me and said, Wow, now I understand! I was that kid hiding in a closet surrounded by my toy horses, my fingers in my ears to shut out the voices of the hovering spirits. I was the little Jewish girl on my knees in every Catholic church, covering myself with holy water and genuflecting in the hopes it would keep the ghosts away. But they kept coming and they scared me nearly to death! Of course they didn't look like they did in movie. Ghosts look like they did in life, unless they are quite distressed and then they are kind of a ball of chaotic energy.

Took me years to come to terms with the fact that I see and hear ghosts. They come for a reason - because they have unfinished business that they want me to finish. I generally refuse. It's not that I'm not sympathetic, it's just that...well...exactly how would you approach a complete stranger and say...uh...I just spoke with your dead brother and uh... I can't bring myself to do it. I have only passed on messages on those occasions when I knew I could make a difference and the person I was asked to contact wouldn't be likely to call the police.

Over the years, I've lived in three haunted houses - one in Iowa, two in Utah - that darn Utah - and met some pretty interesting spirits out here in Cali. My favorite is this very handsome Native American man I see when I hike. I see him on one particular trail in one particular place. He's caught in time, stalking a deer, just beyond a pile of fallen rock. He always appears in the autumn, just before the rains begin. I stand still and watch him. He's bent over, walking silent as a big cat, all his attention focused on whatever is ahead of him. His chest is bare, he wears deerskin leggings and moccasins. His hair is long and braided and tied with a deerskin thong. I wish he could see and hear me, but he can't, so my dog and I stand and watch until he vanishes into thin air. Oh yeah, my dog can see him too. Nothing stirs with his passing aside from my heart. It's such a poignant moment and I wonder why he's stranded there, in the midst of this one act. Did he die that day? Or is this simply a reflection of what was? Perhaps one day, if only in a story, he'll stop and turn and see me. And I'll know the answer.

COSTUMES, HALLOWEEN, & WIN A KINDLE CONTEST

Before I begin, I'd like to promo a new Ellora's Cave release, "Dancing with Danger", for a friend, Desiree Holt. http://www.jasminejade.com/p-7559-dancing-with-danger.aspx
Rachel Windsor knew nothing about Gabriel Peralta except that he was walking sex appeal. He blew into her life without notice, here today then always gone on a puff of wind. But each time he appears, he does things to her body that even her fantasies haven’t conjured up, driving her to orgasms that shake her like a raging storm. His mouth knows every inch of her body. The imprint of his intimate kisses linger long after he disappears.
Now he's back again, his life unexpectedly on the line. But even in the danger zone, his sexual demands are more scorching than ever and this time, Rachel is determined not to lose him-or the erotic lifestyle that binds them.

I love Halloween. Always have. Always will. Maybe I like the tradition of children dressing up in costumes and seeing their bright faces as they ask for treats. Or, maybe I like Halloween because it gives me an excuse to buy loads of chocolate that I can eat after all the kids...

I digress. Let's forget I ever mentioned chocolate!

Wanting to be someone else is everyone's fantasy. Kids can do that easily by donning their favorite costume. Adults have a more difficult time as dressing up and fantasizing is something not done often...at least not in public!

In my latest book, "Sexy Games", my heroine, Stacy, and hero, Sloane, get to wear costumes AND role-play as they test new adult games...a sexual fantasy come true for lots of lovers! Sloane and Stacy act out a scene from "Hot Sands"...an adventure with an Arabian sheik and his reluctant bride-to-be. Next is their night of passion as they become a nerdy college professor getting lessons from a stripper/lap dancer aimed to please in "Teach Me". And their final acting roles in "The Lady and Her Butler" have them breaching social barriers as the butler teaches a hot-to-trot lady the lusty ways of love.

All their scenes involve costumes to add flavor and credence to their adventures in passion. Setting the ambiance of their surroundings helps create that fantasy world Stacy and Sloane crave and lead them to fulfill their lusty passion.

Ever wear costumes...other than for a Halloween party? Maybe for some naughty role-playing game with the one you love? If not, do you fantasize about it?

RomantiCon Tales & Photos

Ellora's Cave RomantiCon 2009!

I had a wonderful time. Very casual and cozy...around 180 people. Got to visit "The Cave" and took a tour...even got to see the EC python.
Here are photos of me and the EC cavemen (2 photos), my April Ash sign, and the CAVEMEN!

Met Joysann from Publisher's Weekly. I'm in a
picture posted on PW's Barbara Vey's "Beyond Her Book" at:

The workshops were great and I enjoyed the booksigning. I sold "Strip Poker for Two" by April Ash and "Second Sight Dating" by Marianne Stephens books. I did a workshop with two other women on contests and promotion.

My editor came from Australia for RomantiCon. Met her on Thursday soon after we arrived. That night was an early arrivals party. Friday night was our 60's party and Saturday night, our banquet and awards dinner.

My editor hosted a "Vegemite and Tim Tams" luncheon (stuff from Australia) for her authors. Vegemite is NOT something I'd taste again (very salty, like soy sauce spread on bread). Tim Tams are chocolate cookie/candy and absolutely wonderful! We had 7 or 8 varieties to taste, so lunch was sinfully delicious, full of calories, and drenched in chocolate (since most of us didn't take more than one bite of our vegemite sandwiches).

On Sunday night, we played Bingo and I was one of the winners. Funny story:
I was handed a tote bag like the ones we were given for the weekend. I looked inside, and saw a lipstick. Then, some wrapped minipads. I figured it was a joke prize. Saw a wallet and opened it...found money inside. Then, I saw a camera.

I had been given someone's personal tote bag! I took it back to the head EC table and yep...I had been handed the wrong "gift"! The real gift bag had books, etc., in it!

Plan to go next year and join the fun!
