Books I love! Cerise's Praise for DARK SIDE NIGHT by Maryn!

I am going to start a new topic here about books I've bought and read that I have loved. I'll dub it Cerise's Praise. CP, if you will.
No. I have not told the authors I am doing this. In most cases, I do not know the authors. I bought the books because for some reason, the blurb or excerpt appealed to me.
Am I a sucker for a cover?
Yes. But do I judge the content by that cover?
Hey! I'm an author, so that answer is a BIG FAT NO. (And I am very very picky!)
Also, I will share with you only my appreciation. I am, after all, NOT a reviewer, just a fellow traveler/reader. (And trust me, I read a lot.  Philosophy? Only the good stuff makes it here.)
So without ado, here is my first CP.
DARK SIDE NIGHT is a BDSM, club scene book. If you like that sort of setting, and I do, this one is for you!
What is unique about this book? Ah. The hero and heroine are two mature, older people who have had challenges (he more than she) and who take their time and patience learning about each other. Not only sexually but emotionally, these two are well matched. (Color me tired of those 40-something women who appear to be 20-something airheads.)
The twist at the end is one that fulfills and explains much. It gratifies. It illuminates. This shows talent which this author appreciates. Makes me smile.
The prose is strong. The characterization finely drawn. The plot, useful to her conflict.
This is the author's first for EC and I will definitely check out her works again. Especially if she gives us all once more two intelligent, caring, articulate people who know what they want and need in life—and in the bedroom!

We are having one grand time being with the grand kids (and their parents)! The boys have been fishing, us girls have been shopping, and there's been lots of doll playing, sidewalk chalk drawing, barbequeing, laughing and just enjoying each other's company. What there has NOT been a lot of is sleeping!  Oh, well, we can catch up on that later.

Naked Running Cowboy is on the Loose!

It’s finally here! I dreamed of this day for so long. For ages Tessie teased me with the description of a book cover of a naked running cowboy. We enjoyed a good laugh but neither of us could figure out how or why this book cover existed. Who needed a naked running cowboy on demand?

Then genius struck. Tessie devised a damn clever reason to claim the book cover. She wrote Naked Running Cowboy in record, which in my mind is further proof of divine inspiration and voila Naked Running Cowboy was born.

Now we can all enjoy this sweet, sexy story about a very handsome neighbor who likes to garden without his shirt and inadvertently plants a few steamy fantasies in his female neighbor’s mind.

I loved this Gem. It’s a quick but satisfying read that will make you happy. I have to admit the naked running cowboy on the cover is hot! It’s working for me…

I recommend everyone chase down a Naked Running Cowboy! You’ll be glad you did.

Too Little Time

I love long weekends from work. I hate long weekends from work. :o)

While I always enjoy an extra day with the family, the return to work is always a busy one. Not only in my day job but my writing life too. I didn’t get much writing in this weekend – maybe 500 words. Today I’ll be playing catch-up.

I did relax by the pool, had a cookout with family and read two books. Jayne Rylon’s Kate’s Crew and Marie Rose Dufour’s Saddle Up. Both very good. I used to be an OCD reader. You’d never see me without a book. Now trying to squeeze in reading time is difficult. I realize that I need to read to recharge my brain. I get stale in my writing if I’m not reading. So, now I’m going to make that part of my daily routine. Hahahahaha.

The good thing is the television shows are done for the summer – except Game of Thrones which ends this coming Sunday. Bummer. I’m sure they’ll make us wait another 9 months to find out what happens.

With nothing to watch, but baseball…and I must say I’m not watching it like the obsessive fan I normally am, I’ll do more reading. It’s funny how addictions change.  

Wish I had more to add to the blog this week, but as you can see there’s just too much to do.

Snowbird...here I come...

I love my condo in Snowbird...

Whether it is frosty and misty, or sunny and warm...

The view from my double-decker suite is breathtaking, and it has helped me ground myself every year for the past decade and a half.  Waaay back when time shares were all the newest rage, and people were scrambling to buy "weeks" at this resort or that, a wonderful man in Utah decided to do something a bit different. He sold time shares in a simple ski lodge that was sturdy and pleasant, but instead of trying to oversell, he limited the number and quality of the shares, and Iron Blosam Lodge was born.

And when that wonderful old man passed on, instead of selling the time share's condo buildings to Snowbird's huge resort, he willed each Iron Blosam owner a full part ownership in perpetuity, and set up a well-oiled management scheme that has lasted for over 40 years...and oddly enough, a great many of the original owners and their descendants still own the shares. Unwilling to let such a treasure go the way of most other time shares, the owners took great interest in their property.  

Having a wonderful, rejuvenating place to go for a week every year helps me cope with the stress and helps me regain perspective.  So even though I will be carrying my trusty lap-top up the canyon to the 8,000 ft level, I will not be doing much work. I will enjoy feeding the bluejays, ground squirrels, chipmunks, and the occasional raccoon from a special feeder I take with me.  I will enjoy walking on the sometimes snowy...sometimes muddy paths around the resort.  I will enjoy stepping out onto my balcony that overlooks the fabulous sparkling adult swimming pool, and I will breathe deep of the crisp morning mountain air. And I will think of all of my friends slaving away in cubicles and over computer keyboards...and I will laugh maniacally and then I will go inside and read the hoard of e-books that I will be taking up with me, while I nibble on forbidden sweets.

Oh...and if any of you are in Utah next week, and want to visit me up there, just e-mail...

My Babies Are Coming!!!

This afternoon, our son, daughter-in-law and grand daughters, Ava (3 1/2) and Michaela (4 months) are arriving for a ten day visit!! They live in southern Texas and we live in Michigan. The last time we were together in person was two years ago. Ava was barely tweedling around, and Michaela, well, was  the 'we might decide to reproduce one more time' comment from our adult kids during a heated game of Scrabble!!

I am at a loss for words (very nice being an author) to describe my excitement for their arrival.
