Liz Crowe's Gonna Make Us a "Conditional Offer"

My guest today at Seven Sexy Scribes is the fabulous Liz Crowe! If you haven't already heard of Liz, you will soon. Liz is a star on the rise and her speciality is big, bold characters who live with gusto in the real world. I can't compare her writer's voice to anyone else's because she truly has her own style and stands apart. In a writers market where a lot of the same thing is offered, Liz Crowe is a fresh flavor on the menu. I want to share a little more about Liz and share an exclusive deleted scene from "Conditional Offer" that only Seven Sexy Scribes was lucky enough to score!

(Pisssst please do not ask this lady for a Bud Light she means business..)

Liz Bio:
Microbrewery owner, best-selling author, beer blogger and journalist, mom of three teenagers, and soccer fan, Liz lives in the great middle west, in a Major College Town.  Years of experience in sales and fund raising, plus an eight-year stint as an ex-pat trailing spouse plus making her way in a world of men (i.e. the beer industry) has prepped her for life as erotic romance author.  When she isn't sweating inventory and sales figures for the brewery, she can be found writing, editing or sweating promotional efforts for her latest publications.  Her ground breaking romance sub genre: “Romance for Real Life” has gained thousands of fans and followers, interested less in the “HEA” and more in the “WHA” (“What Happens After?”)

Her beer blog a2beerwench.com is nationally recognized for its insider yet outsider views on the craft beer industry. Her books are set in the not-so-common worlds of breweries, on the soccer pitch and in high-powered real estate offices.  Don’t ask her for anything “like” a Budweiser or risk painful injury.

Conditional Offer: Stewart Realty Book 5

Craig Robinson and Suzanne Baxter had no reason to meet, no real excuse to be friends. But when heart calls to heart...blood to blood...should two people who seem destined to be together heed the spin of Fate's wheel?

Craig spent years floating through life on cruise control, using directionless jobs, his rock band, swimming, and a string of older women in his bed to smother feelings of loneliness and loss.  He finally thought he had found his true love in one Sara Thornton -- A sexy, beautiful, fellow real estate agent and mentor. But his self-doubt and innate sense of failure is only reinforced when he realizes her heart belongs to another man.

When Sara introduces him to Suzanne, a woman fighting her own demons from an abusive marriage and subsequent feelings of inadequacy and deep unhappiness, that chance moment snaps Craig's hazy existence into crystal clear focus.  A bond born of instant physical attraction is nurtured by time and shared experience, and plenty of erotic energy.

As Suzanne's past continues to haunt her, making her push Craig away just as he thinks he’s getting closer, each of them must come to terms with their true selves and face their ultimate realities.

Here's that exclusive scene and a very hot music video that inspired Liz.
This is Grace Potter and The Nocturnals--Paris (Ooh La La)

Ooh La La...Oui

The Gig

Sweat dripped down Craig’s face but he shook it off, let it fly, and kept his lips near the microphone and his already sore fingers moving on the guitar strings. They’d been playing for a solid two hours without a break. The crowd had gotten huge since their last break and he’d kept the band at it, not wanting to lose momentum. Well, actually, he had not wanted to stop ogling the amazing woman who’d made her way down to the front of the dance floor and now stood practically at his feet, swaying and undulating to the band’s folk indie rock original tunes.  He ended the song with an extra flourish, halfway drunk but mostly high on performance.

He fucking loved this shit. Absolutely got off on playing live music—no doubt about it. All his perceived failings, the sense of doom and gloom he got staring at his dwindling bank account, and the general “I don’t give a shit anymore” attitude since his father’s death faded. All he knew was his guitar, the beer-y smelling mike and….potential sex.

He smiled, gave a low bow and let his hair fall over his face. When he peeked between the wet strands he saw exactly what he figured he would. Said hot woman had moved even closer, using the guise of a crowded dance floor to hug the edge of the stage. He ignored her, slugged back the rest of a beer and yelled to the crowd. “Who wants more? Huh? Let me hear ya! We got plenty more…”

He held a hand back to his band. The only one who looked winded was his forty-something drummer but the guy held up his sticks indicating he could keep going.

He glanced down at the woman, took in the simple black, sleeveless likely silk excuse for a shirt that skirted the waistline of tight, pencil thin cream pants, and had to force himself not to lick his lips. Her deep chestnut hair was pulled up off her neck but tempting tendrils escaped, inviting his fingers.

“Hey, lover boy,” a female voice interrupted the erotic fantasy loop that had started playing in his brain as he watched her deep red lips circle the tiny straw in her drink.

“What? Oh, hey, thanks, um…” he accepted a fresh beer from an attractive female bar tender. He gave her his best sheepish grin.

“Michelle. But not that you would remember.”  She shot him a funny look. He wracked his brain then hit on it. Two weeks ago, a long gig, in this very bar. They’d had a quick and dirty fuck between sets. Yeah. He remembered now. She’d approached him. And he’d given her what she wanted. As usual.

He tipped his bottle to her and stepped away. Forgettable women were his forte. But he made no bones about preferring them older, experienced and eager for what he had to offer. She raised a dark eyebrow then faded back into the crowd. He watched for a half second, trying to recall if he’d enjoyed it or not, then shrugged and set the beer on an amp and strummed a few notes of their next song.

By the time they played another entire forty five minutes he was approaching exhausted. “Hey, Michelle!” he yelled over to the bar. “Red Bull? For me?” He winked at her and she rolled her eyes but grabbed one and brought it to the stage. He’d spent the last half hour covering his fairly obvious erection with the guitar. The female target of the night had made her intentions clear. And he was ready.

He flopped down on the edge of the stage, sucked back the Red Bull and draped a towel around his shoulders. The woman spent exactly two minutes ditching her date, then sidled up to him. “So,” she said, her perfect lips moving and coming ever closer to his. “You must know how hot you are right?”

“Yeah,” he leaned back, grateful he’d regained big-boy control over himself and didn’t have to cover an embarrassing bulge in his jeans from her.  “You’re not too bad yourself.” He kept it light but flickered his gaze up and down her delectable form. “Work out, do you?”

“Oh, I swim, do yoga. That’s about it.”

“Ah.” He hid his surprise that she shared his swimming habit and leaned forward. “Want to…” he tilted his head.

“Yes.” She put her drink down and pulled him to his feet. The sound system had kicked back in after the band wrapped up. He held her close, put a hand on her hip and the other at her neck as they fake danced for about a minute. She leaned up into his ear. His skin pebbled and his already half hard cock punched into his zipper at her words. He took her hand and led her outside. Lightening lit the edges of his vision. He was instantly soaked after a few seconds outside.

The woman curved into his body. “I should go home.” She purred into his ear.

He kept pulling her towards the back of the parking lot. Tunnel-visioned, horny as hell and determined to fuck this woman six ways to Sunday, he willed the rain to stop. By the time he had tugged her between his motorcycle and the giant SUV parked next to it, the downpour had done its job soaking them and had reduced to a sprinkle.

“God,” she sighed as he pulled her close, pressed her against the truck and dove into her mouth with his tongue. She felt just like he knew she would. Her slight, angular frame fit into the palms of his hands fairly predictably. He cupped one of her small breasts, flicked his thumb across her stiff nipple. She twined her fingers in his soaking wet hair. “Yes,” her voice made him buzz all over.

Before he knew it she had him unzipped, was fisting his cock. He groaned, angled his hips.  Her tongue met his, she shifted just enough to give him easy access to the front of her pants. He slipped a practiced hand down the front of them, found her bare sex and sighed into her mouth when his fingers slid inside her welcoming body.  God he loved older women.

He pressed his thumb against her clit, shoved her shirt up and lowered his lips to her nipple and lost himself, yet again, around the body of a nameless, pretty much faceless woman.

(Wow, I'm sweating like a yoga class, thank you Liz!)

The First Review Is In! The Strix gets a 5/5!

The first review is in and we are so pleased!
This is what Ezrabet Enchantments had to say about "The Strix"

Ezrabet:
If you enjoy books with a historical and contemporary flair, then give this one a whirl. Witches, gladiators, blood, curses, betrayals and of course, some sexy vampires with attitude problems. I loved it. When the book opens up, we are in the past as a priestess tries to find her calling. It comes in the form of blood and fire. Next, we are in the present, wandering the streets of Salem. I am a sucker for witch stories, especially in Salem.

I loved the flow of this story and the imagery. You can smell the arena, the gladiators and feel the anguish of the characters. The dialogue is spot on and the erotic scenes are super hot. I hate giving too much away, but if you enjoy an adventure that crosses time, curses, vengeance, hot sex and some hotter vampires, then this book is for you. There are some elements of f/f erotica and anal play, but that only made the story even hotter.

5/5

Thank you Ezrabet!

New Projects!

I've had this song stuck in my head for almost two days. I love it and I am ready to take that tiger outside for a ride...

This was another busy week. I finished all principle edits for "Claimed By Dragons" last week and Amber and I are really excited to share this book with everyone else. This story has a lot of humor and adventure and I fell in love big time with the dragon-shifters Roarke and Kypton and the troubles they face as half human beings in a modern world.

This is our new cover for "Claimed By Dragons" coming September 28th from Loose Id Publishing.

I also started the first two chapters of a new book series recently contracted to Ellora’s Cave that is so much fun to write! I’m working on this series with eight other terrific EC authors and I can’t wait until we’re a little further into the project to start sharing details about it.

Next Wednesday author Liz Crowe will be my guest and she has lots to share including an exclusive deleted scene from her new book "Conditional Offer" Please check back next Wednesday for that!

Have a wonderful week!

Between now and the formal release date of August 29, 2012, I will accept e-mail entries to win a copy of this upcoming release.  Simply go to my website and check out my contests page.  The formal rules are shown there.

For those of you who have already read this short novella under the title First and Ten,  the editing here is much better and there are a few plot alterations because the book no longer relies heavily on the works of my dear friends who wrote short stories for our original Anthology.  If you have not read it, please feel free to drop me an e-mail.  The winner will be chosen at midnight August 29, 2012.

Hello to all of Gracie’s Girls, class of 2002. Once again, thanks to all of you for the flowers and phone calls after my aunt Gracie’s passing last winter. You all meant so much to her, and to me.

As I’m sure you all know, our ten-year college reunion is coming up this summer. Since I now have Aunt Gracie’s big rambling house all to myself, I’d like to extend an invitation. If any of you are coming back for the reunion, you’re more than welcome to stay here, in your old rooms. Gracie quit taking in college students several years back, so there’s no one here but me and I’d love to have some company while I’m getting the house ready to put on the market. So what do you say? One last time as roommates? It would be great to see all of you again.

Hugs,
Karen

She hadn’t planned to attend, at least not until she’d received Karen’s guilt-inspiring email. Every instinct she possessed screamed at her to hit the delete key and pretend the email hadn’t arrived, but she just couldn’t do that. Karen was having financial problems and might have to sell the historic but dilapidated old Victorian house they had all shared in college.

She shouldn’t feel so gun-shy, but even after all these years it would be hard for her to go back and see all her old pals with the memories of her college years slamming hard into her refurbished self-image. A self-image that had taken her seven long years of analysis and hard work to create.

Fran sighed and rubbed her temples, shoving her reading glasses up onto her sleep-tousled head. She’d received the formal reunion invitation last week but had tossed it without even looking at it. No use reliving the whole college scene just to see how everyone else looked… See how many of her friends had kids… How they had all changed over the ten years since she’d last seen them. She certainly didn’t feel like listening to them telling stories about new babies and favorite pets and how they’d met their husbands.

All the things Fran had excluded from her life in favor of monetary success and “being her own woman”.

Fran was far more realistic now. She refused to kid herself. She had never found the man of her dreams and settled down to raise a family, mainly because it had taken her seven years to get past her own demented mental image of herself. And now that she finally recognized her own worth and had learned to love herself as she was, she was way past the wild need to flaunt her wares and try to trap some unwary male. Besides, most men in her age bracket were already married. Or divorced and on the rebound. Or just looking for a one-night stand. So far, that had never quite appealed, no matter how good-looking the man in question happened to be.

Men were not a necessity in life. Besides…she’d royally screwed up, long ago, with the only man she’d ever really wanted any sort of relationship with.

She ran her fingers through her wild curls and pressed her thumbs against the bridge of her nose. Back then she’d been so sure that the tentative advances he’d made were simply another way for the jock community at WIU to have a laugh-fest at her expense. She’d reacted defensively, tearing his ego into tiny strips. And then he’d basically left her alone.

Damn…

Only years later, after many long sessions with her uber-patient therapist, had it flashed with astonishing clarity into her mind. Jack Gerrard—her dream man—had actually tried to ask her out on a date. And she had gone off on the man as if he’d just asked her to jump naked into an anthill.

She gave a sigh of resignation. The worst part of it was that she’d always had the most pathetic crush on the man—most girls had crushes on the hot, sexy hero of the WIU gridiron.

Even in high school, Gerrard had always been in the company of cheerleaders and prom queens and the most popular girls. They hung all over him like bees around a honey pot. One look from those riveting blue eyes could make any girl drop her panties with a scream of delight. But Jack had ignored them most of the time, keeping up excellent grades so he could play varsity football. She supposed that was the true attraction.
Sure. There she went, lying to herself again. She’d been hot for his ripped body, just like all the other girls. But it had gone deeper than that with her.

He had offered her some modicum of friendship, and good-looking guys did not want to be pals with Fran Jamison. So when that friendship was withdrawn without explanation or reason, it had torn her up inside.

Hugs!

A Headstrong Hero

I'm experiencing an interesting creative relationship with Brad, the hero of my current wip. In the beginning, I thought I knew him so well, but he's leading me a merry chase!?!

He's made it clear he's not a policeman or sheriff, instead he works for the Department of Natural Resources. It still deals with the enforcement of laws, and since he met the heroine Alicia in a science class during college, it made good sense.

In my mind, Brad started out as a wolf shifter. Well, he doesn't want to be one! He has friends who are, he's a protector of their way of life, but he wants to be 100% human. Okay, as long as someone is shifting I'm good with it.

Here's the kicker. In this m/f story, Brad is insisting his friend Tom has an active role in his relationship with Alicia! Now, you all know I love to write menage, but I just never pictured Brad as a sharing kind of guy. He's not letting it go though, so I'm re-working a few things at the beginning of the story to make it work.

Alicia is giddy with excitement!!!

GOOD NEWS ALERT

I just received notification that Hana's Handyman will release on October 31st!!!

Have a great weekend,
Tessie

Lazy Girl Post!

Today I'm writing a lazy girls' post because I'm editing "Claimed By Dragons" book 2 in the Bag Of Tricks book series and it needs my full attention. This book was Amber's love child and it's a wonderful and very naughty book if I say so myself.

On an even more joyful note--school starts next week! I can't wait. My "tween" will be the responsibility of the state school system from 9 am to 3 pm, hurrah!

I don't mean to sound like a bad mom who wants to see the back of their child's head walking onto campus and hopefully learning something of value, but I'm just so exhausted. It was a hard, fast summer with no days off and lots of neighborhood boys in my house everyday, eating and eating and eating everything but my carpets.

I'm hoping the autumn will slow down a little so I can actually enjoy all the good things that are going around me. My favorite season is coming and I can't wait.
