Chocolate Cherry Cookies
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup cocoa
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 stick butter, room temperature
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
48 maraschino cherries
1 12 ounce package semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 can sweetened condensed milk
Mix together dry ingredients. Set aside. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla. Gradually add dry ingredients. The dough will be thick. Shape dough into 1" balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and flatten the center of each with your thumb. Put a cherry in the center of each cookie.
In small saucepan, mix chocolate chips with condensed milk and 6 Tbs. cherry juice. Stir till melted. Spoon 1 to 1 1/2 tsp. chocolate mixture over each cookie.
Bake at 350' for exactly 10 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes before removing from cookie sheet.
