Royal Engagement

Engagementa promise to marry, also the period of time between proposal and marriage.

Whether you’ve dated someone forever or been swept up in a whirlwind lust-affair, the act of asking another person to spend the rest of their life with you is taking a monumental leap of romantic faith!

My, seeing things through rose colored glasses, happily-ever-after self was thrilled when Prince William and Kate Middleton announced their engagement this week. I’ve got my fingers and toes crossed that they will share a long and happy life together. Marital bliss is an ongoing challenge for us regular people; I can’t imagine dealing with things under the microscope of the worldwide press.

I think it’s beyond wonderful that William gave Kate his mother’s ring and said, "It's my way of making sure my mother didn't miss out on today and the excitement and the fact we are going to spend the rest of our lives together."

I hope the media and we, the public, will allow them some space and privacy to experience their own HEA.
Have a great weekend!

  2. I knew that it was his mother's ring the minute that I saw it on the news. I love that he is keeping his mother's memory alive this way. I am sure that she would have been very proud of the man that he has become. Long live happy endings!

  4. I think Prince Charles has instilled a strong sense of self in the young princes and hopefully this will allow them to enjoy fairly normal lives. It would be nice to see this generation granted happy, productive lives.
I was surprised to hear so many people objecting to Diana's ring being given. I think Diana would be very pleased with this beautiful gesture.

  5. I love that Kate is a "commoner" like Diana and wearing her ring. The ring ties the family together in romantic ways that didn't happen in real life. I wish the couple every happiness.

  6. I love that he gave her that ring. I wish William and Kate the happiness his parents did not have.

  7. I think they have been very smart to date for a long time and not get pushed into getting married before they were ready.

  8. I hope the young couple can keep their sense of humor. They will need it under the watchful eye of the press.
