Happy Second Day of Christmas...

Hope you are enjoying this Second Day of Christmas...

And since I won't be back to post until the day after New Year's, I wish you all a very Happy New Year!

Well...the shortest day of the year is officially past, the Christmas season has truly begun, and the New Year is fast approaching. I love this time of the year, but I always have mixed feelings about it, since I always feel a trifle depressed by the short days and long nights, and I am always concerned about paying house taxes and all that stuff. It amazes me how all the big expenses manage to hit right around the holidays. BLECH!

There is always a bit of a let down after the kids have demolished the beautiful wrappings on the presents, and the big holiday dinner is still making me feel all puffy and lazy. I normally leave my tree up for a long time after Christmas, but I won't be able to do that this year because there are so many people stuffed into my little house, I need the room back! LOL!

Oh! Did I mention that I have to replace my furnace, too? Yep. It's truly depressing. Ah, well. Things will get better.

Hugs, and great wishes for the coming New Year.

  1. Ah Fran, yup, time to clean up. So sad. Several years ago, our furnace blew up the day before Christmas. We were without heat for two weeks. Fortunately, we have a wood-burning stove that kept the house tolerable until the furnace could be replaced. These things tend to happen at holiday time!

  2. The holidays always seem to be a crazy mix of 'wonderful goodness' and 'you have to be freakin kidding me'!

  3. Isn't that the way things always happen? I'm sorry for your troubles at the holidays. Hope you still had a wonderful Christmas.

  4. Somehow, special event days and home repairs seem to go hand in hand, just to add to our craziness as we try to stay sane! If it isn't the furnance, it's gonna be something else. Our refrigerator died the day before my daughter's wedding...and I had a house filled with people!
Stay sane and things will smooth out...and you have a New Year to look forward to!
